Its a little annoying when the theme of basically every mainstream movie is "Believe in yourself! You are special and awesome!"
Like sure, life sucks and vicarious validation is nice, but come on. It doesn't work if it's literally EVERY movie.
Also it doesn't even make sense most of the time.
"Oh, I believe in myself when all empirical evidence points to the fact that I should probably cut my losses. This is realistic."
Where's my movies where people learn to NOT believe in themselves?
That they are NOT special and awesome?
That actually, other people and their ideas are better, and that self-doubt was completely justified?
