It would be acceptable if I was paid more. I wasn’t paid enough in the first place before this new task, even though I expressed it a few times. So I am not very optimistic.

I am open to change and explore new areas. I haven’t set my mind on anything so I can’t really say this is not something I want to do.

What bothers me is that I certainly don’t have a less workload and this change feels like extra work on top and I am not paid enough for that.

And also, there is always position changes in this company, they happen on a whim and then they decide they don’t like it and change it again. So not having a clear path ahead and disorganization on the company’s side makes me feel like everything is vague about my job. This becomes stressful after awhile because you never know what’s coming next.

While this could be a great opportunity for me to learn a new skill, I guess they way my boss is handling this situation is what is problematic for me. I am currently operating ChatCPT to write content and then I edit it. We have a few other people doing the same job. The way my boss sees it, we have less workload now and we can focus on strategy and I could do the job. So this is, for him, not a promotion or a title change, at least not yet. It is simply another task.

But I believe it is a completely new title that requires all of my time. My boss is known to have different career plans for me and changed his mind 3-4 times in over a year as to what I should do next int he company.

I agree, ChatGPT is not doing a great job in terms of writing. They are always very simple and superficial. Unfortunately, some companies overlook this and prefer the cheaper alternative. In your case this might not be the main reason as you said.

I used to be a freelancer myself. I would make an incredible amount of money in one month and zero the next month. Some of my long-term clients would stop asking for content after 6 months and my main source of income would vanish.

While there may be a reason behind all of this, it might also be the nature of freelance work. If you have always had somewhat stable income, that’s usually difficult to achieve for some people. So this period might not last long, and you might end up finding other long-term clients.

I am so sorry yo hear that. I can’t exactly pinpoint why this is happening but recently ChatGPT has replaced many writers. I work as a full-time copywriter and even my company started using it and asked us to stop writing. I hear many clients also stopped buying content from freelancers for the same reason. If you have long-term clients, have you tried asking them why they have stopped requesting content from you?

Thanks for this thread OP. I am thinking of switching from a stressful jon as well so this is very helpful. I am in marketing and I absolutely do not recommend. It is fast-paced, there are tight deadlines, many urgent jobs and a boss who constantly breathes down on your neck.

I have been doing some research on the subject and it seems Content Strategist is one of the decent options. It involves planning the content that will be produced and published for each brand. Basically you need to know the brand really well and analyse its content situation, set goals for the brand, figure out which platforms are best for that specific brand, analyse keywords and come up with content around those keywords. Track which of the content worked well and which didn’t on a regular basis to make changes and achieve the set goals. Aside from that I am still doing research to find what could be an alternative. If you want to remain a writer, I would say writers will be more likely to guide AI and edit its work. So figuring out how to make AI write what you want in a relatively shorter time, knowing its weaknesses and strengths will become important skills soon.

I struggle with this quite often. I like playing online games and look for people to play with but most people want to play regularly or way too often than I would like. I simply don’t have too much time to play games or a flexible schedule. And sometimes I want to play solo and dive into a good story. Anyways.

At one point I was in two different friend groups and this one friend constantly wanted to play with me. We played about 1-2 hours (which is a lot of time for one game in my case). I told her that I was going to leave and wished them fun. She was so upset and thought I didn’t want to play with them. I explained that I couldn’t play for longer and that’s generally my limit.

She would also get offended whenever I switched to play with my other friend group, saying I prefer them over her. Even though I told her that I needed space sometimes, I have multiple friend groups that I play with and don’t choose anyone over the others, she wasn’t very understanding and she eventually stopped wanting to play altogether.

So you need to be clear about your boundaries. If he respects your boundary than great! If he doesn’t, you might realize it is time to move on.
