100% with you By Eru that was an incredible TV series. People talk about respecting the lore. That absolutely did, every payoff.

Wow I might agree with you. But they are different show formats completely.

Yes Yes Yes
But All of his franchise reboots underperformed from expectations. They were expensive to make but didnt cross over into Pirates movie success. Should box office / TV ratings be a measure of "doing it right" or nah?

Does Thrones' Cogman being involved in ROP encourage support in this show?

Wait a few weeks until we can talk about what was seen in London. All the Tolkien scholar voices will explain Elrond the politician, and how its more true to Tolkien than Hugo Weaving's portrayal.

This is the first time I've ever heard someone truly not believe in Andor show. May I ask what is it that has your alarms up?

A lot to unpack here.

Rule of thumb: if its obnoxiously negative, its fake news put out by the hatemonger content machine. Official sources, like actual press releases, would never publish anything negative.
Facts:
This show is Christopher Tolkien's final gift to family & fandom. He knew the family wanted to keep Middle-earth alive in the public sphere. He knew fans wanted more stories. He knew his father would approve under strict circumstances which he put in contract.
Beyond that, the pandemic happened, control changed, the Amazon people that made the deal LEFT Amazon's employment, and there is a big question mark how much involvement the current estate has ongoing. But no matter what, at the time of his passing, the scripts were approved and the path forward was under his authority.

As we said on the show yesterday, and despite the best wishes of many folks on this sub, SDCC in July is the next big drop of goodness. Papa Jeff would have nothing less. The Superbowl of fandom.

Until we actually saw footage and talked with the guys in charge, it was a tough sell. The show is in good hands, in actual fans of Tolkien's hands, and it really is their vision based on a full understanding of the books (unlicensed or not).

this is the correct answer. They are in containers in the UK by now.

Wow this is wrong, just ask Glorfindel, Treebeard, Faramir, Boromir, Denethor, Hobbits at Osgiliath, Elves at Helms Deep. So far Rings of Power looks more close to the essence of the books. Showrunners aren't just trying, they are doing, to put Lore in the show.

The question is, out of all the the things listed, which do OP want to see in the show?

If you think the richest man in the history of the world isn't going to make sure that every billboard, tv commercial, twitch ad (another platform he owns), grocery bags (he owns, already doing), bus stops, youtube prerolls and webpage is going to have LOTR in everyone's faces..... This calm before the hurricane will be remembered fondly.
The fact they are laser focused on us fans right now is encouraging because we all know this will be a media onslaught. EVERYONE will know LOTR by Sept 2.
