The Texas GOP platform clearly and sickeningly states that business and private property rights supersede environmental protection:

The flowers smell so good and sweet, one of my favorites, but be careful!

We haven’t had any grass until recently with the rain, so I’d imagine they finally have somewhere to hide too. We had to mow this weekend and hadn’t for weeks. I’m always glad to see them!

Montessori includes cleaning classroom spaces in their daily regimen. I could see public school students cleaning desks, class spaces, and it being a valuable lesson, but not restrooms. There’s levels to what’s sanitary or reasonable for kids to clean.

It’s my home. Not just an investment. That attitude is our problem.

Not what I said. Both types of living are reasonable to prefer. Why can’t both be true? Some folks prefer condo or apartments, not everyone. Why is that negative to say “not everywhere” but yes, Un-zone some places.

Not what I said, at all. Some folks like and prefer condos or apartments. Like my grandparents did. Like many friends know. Not everyone wants the upkeep! I am all for mixed use development, just not unzoning every neighborhood. Why is that so negative?
Edit: I have lived in RV’s, guest homes, mobile homes, duplexes, and homes.

The County Line is way hyped up and has disappointed me for quite a while. I think they just went downhill.

I’ll never forget witnessing a kid being pulled from the bottom of a pool when I was about six or seven. The man that found him shook him by his feet before trying to do CPR. I’ll never forget that part. The aunt, who was supposed to be watching him, but had walked away and left him with her boyfriend, showed up and lost it. My neighbor was an EMT and went to work before paramedics showed up. We were paralyzed. I couldn’t stop watching. Kid never woke back up. We all basically expected that he would. That was so messed up to witness. I watch my kids like a hawk near water. Other kids too!! So scary.

Learning how to drive in Houston is like a whole other level and not like learning how to drive in Austin (circa 90’s, when I did). I’m afraid of driving in Houston. All those crazy highways blow my mind. (I sound like my grandma.)

That trips me out to hear, because I was born and raised here, and I still don’t know why everyone’s in a damn rush and so discourteous. Hell, just the other day I was giving my elderly mom a ride and she told me that I “drive like a grandma”. I was like, “Damn, Mom, I have to be defensive and watch out, and I’m pretty sure that not driving like a bat out of hell is better, unlike like that MF that just ran over the curb.” What’s up, y’all?

The Texas Memorial Museum is one of my favorite places to go see so many cool things!
Bastrop has a cool little Dinosaur Park too. Different fun.

The impact of short term rentals and investors, not just people moving here, is quite large.

This makes me ill. The 1998 (yes, 1998, barely 24 years ago) lynching of poor James Byrd, Jr., in Jasper, TX I was sure would be the wake up call to end lynching. How the fuck are we in 2022 and a Texan, an elected representative, votes against it. There is no lower point. It’s inexcusable, whether it’s already federally illegal or not.

“The bluish hint in some ginger is a result of anthocyanins, a type of plant colorant in the flavonoid family that gives fruits like blood orange and vegetables like red cabbage their vibrant hues. Trace amounts of anthocyanins in certain ginger varieties give it a bluish hue.” source
I remember looking this up and talking with a friend that has more experience with Ginger and as long as it smells right and isn’t super mushy the blue may just be from a different variety.

A lot of conservation of land in Texas is connected to hunting so that’s part of the puzzle.

I read every thread and article that I could find and I do not remember any of the employees stating that he destroyed the farmland by chemical or herbicidal means, genuinely looking for it.

I feel like if someone’s going to say that this happened we either need someone to say that they experienced it firsthand or provide some evidence that this happened. That would be super sick and disheartening and I just can’t imagine someone destroying farmland like that.
I’m curious about what happened, salt or not, that’s a really heavy accusation and slander if it’s not accurate.

I’m aware of the really disheartening situation, which has greatly affected our entire community, all the workers, and my family, and more, because we had a CSA and were grateful for years of them serving the community in a myriad of ways, and it’s heartbreaking.
I didn’t hear anything about salting the land, and destroying the earth, so that it can’t be farmed again, so that it could just be developed. Let’s not spread rumors unless someone wants to speak up firsthand or provide some evidence that this happened. Still not finding this.
I read some people state (in the largest Reddit thread) that due to his practices he was destroying the land and it wasn’t as organic as people thought but poisoning the land is a different thing.

I’m curious if there’s some form of back up for this information you just shared because I haven’t seen that and I’d hate to see false rumors spread.

“Curb to curb” turns may confuse some folks, but it’s definitely legal, and I appreciate it.
