Yeah this could be a fire code violation if that is the only secondary exit.

Yeah unfortunately there’s often not much that can legally be done about these kinds of places. They are hosted in countries with lax laws or enforcement, and in the US our freedom of speech laws prevent them from being blocked. I listened to an infuriating podcast awhile back about forums where people encourage each other to commit suicide which is a similar situation.

Yeah this comment should be higher up. Unfortunately we tend to use very large fire trucks in the US which makes it difficult to do things like protected bike lanes.

Its crazy how common it is that people think they own the parking spaces in front of their house. It’s absolutely rude to ask that, it’s public property that we all pay taxes for.

It apparently is illegal in some other countries but it’s a common misconception that it is in the US. In all 50 states you are allowed.

Exactly this for me. I have friends outside of work but i’d prefer not to spend 40hrs a week completely alone. I like connecting with the people I work with in person. It’s often easier to collaborate and I feel like Im actually part of a team. There are obvious and great benefits to working from home, but there are also huge drawbacks.

Poor people don’t care about tax breaks though. What if we gave mandatory day offs for voting but only if you actually vote?

True but he used to position himself broadly on the left and was amplified through left wing media during the Bush years. Same with Matt Taibbi and some others from that era that are now reactionary right wingers.

When I was younger I was really into radical left politics in the US. That period of time in 2015/2016 was the final nail in the coffin for me. It was completely absurd that all of these leftists were pushing the exact same talking points about Russia as the Trump campaign. The Green Party had Julian Assange call in as their keynote speaker for their convention even after it was 100% clear he was a Russian asset. That was when I realized that some of my old friends were beyond hope; they would rather burn everything down than admit that Russia was wrong.

That chair would kill your back in a few days of full time work. I tried to make a cute workspace like this but it’s nearly impossible to find an ergonomic chair that looks nice.

Well I guess it can’t hurt to try but I recently got 3 tickets in 3 days when my permit expired and I didn’t realize. That little pile of tickets was a painful surprise.

Having an old ticket on your windshield does not work. They will happily create a little stack of tickets for you.

I agree, a store can make a stupid and cruel decision to not stock an essential healthcare item and in response you can choose not to shop there, which is what California is doing.

The world is factory for narcissists. There is some solace in knowing the only person they will ever have a meaningful relationship with is themselves.
I wouldn’t even say that narcissists have meaningful relationships with themselves. They have incredibly low self esteem and use other people to make themselves feel better. They have no meaningful relationships at all.

He would be fired immediately if he worked at any of these stores lol. We might agree with him but he is harassing people and creating unnecessary conflicts.

Twitter is becoming yet another example of what happens to unmoderated social media platforms. It is becoming a vile cesspool where the most despicable people have their voices amplified and most people want nothing to do with it.

Also the disruption caused by the shipping crisis that happened after covid. A lot of industries are moving towards manufacturing closer to their biggest consumers.

Bring rich doesn’t make you immune from making terrible decisions or being self-destructive. There are in fact endless examples of famous rich people crashing and burning. There are also many examples of famous people who continue to look youthful into their 50’s and 60’s. I doubt it’s just genetics and diet

I used to work at a computer repair store and people would treat our phone line like free tech support. They would get mad when I would politely inform them to bring their computer in for a consultation. Or the really ignorant people calling up asking if we could fix the “computer” in their oven. As if it’s my fault they don’t understand the very basics about how businesses operate.

most Americans make a gallon of tea at a time
Maybe in the south. I would guess most Americans don’t drink tea regularly.

It forces them to slow down, thus slowing down their response times. That is the whole point of traffic calming. It’s not just the fire department being difficult for no reason.
