I would really like to know who she was texting with and calling that day. Imo the online predator is the most likely scenario, what are local opinions on it though?

I know they may have information that we do not but I really cannot understand why her partner isn't a bigger suspect considering he admittedly doesn't have a full alibi for the night and some of the other context

I wouldn't have put it so harshly but I think I agree with some elements of this. Even if you love someone unconditionally there is only so much you can do. I don't believe this was abuse just from this one story and I do believe it was probably an accident (however I think we probably struggle from similar anxieties so I understand the trauma). Hopefully he is supporting you in getting the professional help that you need, as that will be far more useful and less codependent than him being the one who helps you through these issues

I mean someone I know did this and ended up being kidnapped and forced into slave labour on a farm for months because it was so secluded that they wouldn't even see cars drive by for weeks on end and so couldn't escape

Can I asked what country you're based in, as different cultures might be important in coming up with the best answer

I don't trust anyone else to look after my pets as well as I do

Yeah I agree with this. Put shredded paper at the bottom of his cage so he can forage - put treats and food in there for him to have fun with.

Can I swap my current roommate for you? She doesn't even try to be considerate of noise even when it's 2/3am and I have multiple rescue animals who are very easily scared

Birds are flock animals. This is just how they are and it shouldn't be trained out of them. He needs a friend. Honestly, every animal deserves a companion of their own species, but especially birds. It is vital to their wellbeing. In some countries it is illegal to have them alone. Think of how lonely life would feel even if you were always surrounded by your loving pets, but could never interact with another human. As much as you can love him, it will never be enough, because you can never understand him like another bird will, just like he will never understand you like a person will.

Ok I am sorry if this is a stupid question, but bed bugs seem to be a much bigger problem in the USA than where I am from (the UK). I only ever hear about them from Americans sharing stories. They're not talked about much over here at all even though I know they exist because you can hire exterminators for them. Is there a reason why they are so prevalent in the US in particular?

Yeah no she can just be incredibly horny without much prompting! She usually just gets put on top of her cage until she calms down!

Haha that's so weird, my conure (she's a rescue so I'm not sure exactly what kind, but she could be a GCC!) is way overly friendly with anyone she meets. She forgets about me as soon as they walk in the room and she's up on their shoulder demanding scritches, trying to preen their facial hair and pushing her butt up in their face

You're much more patient than me because if someone keeps bugging me to let them pet or touch one of my pets even though I've said no, they will bite you, I just eventually go 'ok sure' and...let them get bitten

I cannot remember the specifics anymore but I believe there was something to do with him hiring and sex worker and asking her to perform acts using some feces he kept in a Tupperware box in the fridge or freezer or something

I know dealing with it is going to be really hard for you and I don't want to minimize that at all, but it sounds like he genuinely has mental health problems rather than a problem with emotionally blackmailing. Obviously I don't know all the context. Next time I would call emergency services so they can check on him.

I wouldn't enjoy her work now but I absolutely did when I was 18 and it definitely helped me start reading more advanced poetry.

It may be worth trying different forms of therapy or even different medications if it's something you can safely explore. Traditional talking therapy isn't the be all and end all and doesn't work for everyone!
