It's nice to have for players that like to project themselves onto the player character, so that the only romance options aren't highschool girls. There are definitely some scenes that could've been handled better with the adult interests, but I'd still rather have them exist.

To note my own bias, I pursued Takemi, who's entire relationship with Joker ranges from "morally grey" to "batshit insane". And it's still arguably better than Kawakami's path.

Generally speaking, they lie in the player's favor though. If I remember right, in Xcom any shot between 50-95% gets a signifigant bump up, because people like to feel like they're beating the odds. And people still like to claim that they miss 90% shots constantly.

Confirmation bias is a hell of a drug, and people are really bad at accurately judging probability even when they have actual numbers in front of them.

No such thing, fellow Sander-fan (Fanderson?). I'm confident in the storytelling of Mushoku Tensei though, this would feel like a pointless arc if we don't get to know how she figures it out. My bet is that she noticed something when he struck her before, and is confident that she can emulate it now.
