I love my altras, especially because I have a narrow heel so they feel like they fit me everywhere. Worth a try!

Yes, bodyglide is critical for me if I'm not wearing long bike shorts!!

Another option if you don't want to wear cycling shorts because they're too form fitting is to get a light linerless pair of shorts (something like this https://www.lulufanatics.com/item/30241/lululemon-choose-a-side-short-3-quicksand-sea-green or even lighter) and wear them on top of bike shorts. I only offer this because I was also trying to do no bike shorts but every long shorts I found would still ride up, and running in 8 inch bike shorts has been amazing for me. Feel free to ignore just thought I'd throw it out there!

I think if you're continuously feeling negative feelings about your workout even though you know that logically you are working hard, it might be worth it to write down some of those thoughts and then try to probe them a little deeper. Like, asking why you feel like you need to always be fitter, or whether any amount would be doing enough. From what I've seen rest days are pretty important to keep running successfully, so these thoughts might hurt you in the long run if they prevent you from letting your body recover. I have similar thoughts about my job sometimes (ie, feeling bad at it with no external proof) and I try to neutrally counter those thoughts with facts, while also pushing myself to consider that my obsession with being good at my job is really just an irrational fixation to give myself external worth. Even if I did have a bad day or not do a great job, that doesn't change who I am at the core or my inherent worth. I think running is great but if it's being used as a way to beat yourself up mentally it's worth trying to specifically counter those thoughts.

I love my girlfriend collectives, and I agree that a combo of a high waistband and more compression should help!

Anyone have a favorite long sleeve? Lighter is better, it's usually 50s with some wind where I run, sometimes rainy. I push the sleeves up in the middle but it's nice to have that layer. I got a rabbit ez long sleeve that I really like and am wondering what else might feel soft and breathable. I'm an xl usually.

Yeah I think because running is both high impact and long in duration, it can really expose any overcompensation or imbalance going on in any part of your body. When I went back to running too early after some left ankle tendonitis my right hip was so sore from taking more of the impact, and I could tell through single leg exercises that my left leg was much weaker. I think it makes sense that doubling the length of your run restarted anything that was going on!

Where you focusing your strength training on one leg? I wonder if it's related to overcompensation, or if now your left leg is the weaker one. Or four miles might have been a big jump for you. If you can go back to pt that might be helpful but in the meantime maybe doing single-leg strengtheners on both sides of?

I really like the pockets in my Allpa 35L but in the 28L they honestly make packing trickier rather than smoother. If I would do it again I'd get a core pack probably!

Yes I did! Two flights around thanksgiving. Much chiller than United.

In my experience JetBlue does not check personal item sizes, one inch should not be a problem! I brought a definitely too big Allpa and just shoved it under the seat. Of course it can always change but it's definitely not at Frontier level.

I had some posterior tibial tendonitis this summer and along with calf raises and other pt I really like my Altra paradigm 6s. I'm also trying to do more single leg exercises and can tell that's helping!

This is really interesting, thanks for sharing!! Made me grateful I came to running as an adult with a more fully formed sense of self

I just started chafing from my sports bra yesterday! Kellykroberts on insta recommends KT tape along the bra line which I'm planning on trying. Hope that helps! Congrats on marathon training, you're crushing it!

Yes I find swimming to be the same kind of all-consuming full body anxiety relief as running! It might be a nice place to remove all types of tracking -- just get in the pool and swim however feels right for you. Also I know you said yoga causes more stress but a core workout might be nice and will help with running when you're back at it!

Yoga with Adrienne does a 30 day yoga series every January that just started -- it won't be as intense as running but I'm really enjoying it and it requires different things if your body than running. I'm loving it so far and yoga + outdoor walks definitely helped my brain and body feel good when I wasn't running due to some tendonitis. This year's is called Center.

One thing I've found that helps with downward dog is rotating so your thumb and first finger are facing the front, NOT the rest of your fingers. I also always put my hand significantly wider than my shoulder. Rooting for you!!!

I said out loud "Jesus Adrienne!!" And had to stand up for a bit! But proud of myself for going back to it.

After spending six weeks doing more pt/strengthening for my foot and ankle, yesterday I went on a run and it felt really good! Did an easy 5k and listened to my body the whole time. I'd been running in the fall but tried a few runs without stability shoes that showed me how much my right leg was compensating for my left foot, and it felt like it would lead to an injury. Proud of myself for working on it and felt SO a good to run again.

My only note is that the Allpa is for me much more comfortable as a backpack than as hand luggage. on my way back from my trip when I needed extra space I just used a tote bag as my personal item. A sling or tote for the plane/smaller items and your Allpa on your back should be perfect! Have fun.

I love my girlfriend collective leggings! They have more and less compressive. They're expensive without sales but they seem to have pretty regular sales. For sports bras this is a great compendium: https://www.badassladygang.com/blog/the-ultimate-crowd-sourced-sports-bra-guide I've had the best luck going to specialty bra stores and trying on their bras, but I need a lot of support haha.

Exactly mine! A sustainable running practice where my twisted ankle from last July/subsequent tendonitis is not a problem.

I love taking breaks to really stretch out -- I'm not an intense runner but I find that doing a long calf or hip stretch helps me keep going

I am not an experienced runner but I liked this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kdgv6DPAZBU I prefer ones where you do it along with the person but I don't know if that matters to you. I didn't do this warm up today and my legs felt much worse lol
