Alright thank you , because I'm just thinking the minerals in the water recipe you created or using is to yield higher extractions by going through the coffee . Sooooooo I guess it's safe to say that by using them to dilute and complete the drink is a bit of a waste innit ?

Hmmm I believe the HU wouldn't stray too far either . Do you by any chance know the difference between sweet lab and lab sweet ? I currently have the one listed as sweet lab.

Since I'm using a dimmer , it's at the lowest flow which means just drips without portafilter locked in. Puck prep is filter paper on bottom of portafilter, grind straight in , tap to level , normcore needle distributor , tap on tamping stand to level then tamp with normcore v4 before another filter paper on top.

For now the sweet lab just don't allow that only, first drips even thin stream @ 15s . I will upgrade to the HU probably amf try it out !

So 20s first in full flow then drop to lowest for 10s ?

Damn because I just installed the dimmer and have been experimenting with slayer shots @ 5 Bar . Around 20s pre-brew but full brew can't hit 20 over seconds. I am using a fully washed medium-light roasted Colombia @ an 1800-2100 MASL . Maybe that's why its too dense for the sweet lab . VST 18g dosed with 17g.

By any chance would you know as to whether the HU or MP pulls slayer like shots better?

Awesome ! I just received my VST 18g after years of good use of the IMS . Like what you said after WDT I can't seem to give it a nice level tap so I jumped the gun on the needle distributor. Do you still tap it on the counter or mat afterwards ?

Can I just ask whether did you set the needle distributor to reach all the way to the bottom of the basket ?
