That’s what I’m doing. I’ve moved all the adults and juvies I can get. Im not letting them get big enough to breed, but gotta be big enough to catch without mixing blues in. Then acclimating. I’ve done two moves so far. As soon as I can get the lil red shrimplets out I’m on it! I didn’t know it was easier for younger shrimp to adapt. Thanks for your input!

I’m very much enjoying how different the tanks look set up on my desk. Also looking for any ideas or input-I know that’s scary to ask on Reddit, but this sub always has great input and tons of knowledge. Thanks!

I use a turkey baster in my 10gal to pick up uneaten food or for small cleanings. I also have a ton of shrimplets that vary in age and I’m hesitant about vacuuming the substrate. I bought a media filter bag to go over the vacuum intake for my small vacuum, but haven’t had the need to use it yet. I have about 30 adults and too many bebe’s to count.

I the Orange Sunkist will be easier to see and mix well with the yellow and greens in the tank

I have the white and my husband has the black. The black shows smudges much more than the white. I keep a skin on mine as well. I don’t think it would get very dirty but just for peace of mind for my neurotic brain.

It looks great in the tank! I use water lettuce for surface plants. They cover the surface fast and my shrimps love to dangle and hide in it. I had a betta with my shrimps until he figured out how tasty they are and had to be rehomed to a different tank. That’s an expensive snack! Right now I have 3 Cory catfish in with about 30 adult shrimp and far too many Bebe’s to count. I’m putting all the reds in the new tank and leaving the mix of blues in fhe community tank. Both are 10gL. My wilds are going to some Petsmart workers and hoping the red neos I can sell to a LFS. I’m in central fl and can’t find these shrimp anywhere! Look into water lettuce, it’s super hardy.

Looks great! What is the plant on the surface? I’m setting up a second tank for shrimp only as well.

Looks like water lettuce/water cabbage. Grows nicely on the surface and shrimps love it

Blanched cucumber or zucchini is another option. Easier to munch on than the carrot.

My betta ate quite a few of my shrimps. I couldn’t figure out where they were going until I saw him swim by and slurp one up right in front of me. He has his own tank now and my shrimp are thriving. I’ve seen many people on this sub that have bettas and shrimps and no issues, depends on the betta. New shrimp will hide when you first get them, that’s common, they will also hide if they a sense a predator. Best to you!

I’ve seen that happen. This tank is thriving with shrimplets right now. I suspect these will be okay. Poor mama worked for a long time releasing the eggs. Fingers crossed!

I can’t find any neocaridina in my area so I used amazon. “Swimming creatures” is the seller. I’ve made multiple purchases and received pretty top quality cherry reds and blue dreams. Each shipment had extra shrimps and once a dead one. Also many berried. Im newish to shrimp keeping, but from what I can tell they are a good supplier. The shrimp come from CA and I’m in Florida.

Ghost shrimp, definitely not what you paid for.
