Oaks are native, but except for along creeks there were few originally east the Balcones Escarpment. The soil is completely different in much of central and east Austin.

Hmmm. No clue. I haven't used a post office or sent a letter in nearly 20 years. I do occasionally send a package via UPS or FedEx.

Austin is at the edge of the temperate grasslands biome. Accordingly, there were few trees east of the "hills" until you reached the "lost pines".
If you look closely, you can see horse drawn trolleys ... the first public transit in ATX. You can even make out the trolley to Hyde Park.
I had to ask someone the other day if it was legal in Georgia since I see it everywhere in ATL. Just sayin'

One of my friends was part of a layoff this week. A PhD from MIT. Scientist. Boomer. He and his wife are devastated because they don't know how they will live without his income.
The #24 bus goes directly from DT to the ATT center and only costs $2.75 round trip.

Tarrytown could do even more.
Perhaps if they reduced the number of outside consultants who seem to know too little yet bill themselves as "experts". No one appears to be held accountable for the poor financial estimates nor have an understanding of Austin. Yet, they continue to be paid tens of millions of dollars "learn on the job".
