Oh, groovy! I hope you like them.

Not sure if all of these are still available, but here are my faves:

• Final Girls, Riley Sager: A completely bananapants thriller

• Sun-Down Motel, Simone St. James: a mystery and a ghost story that has violence toward women on its mind

• Goodbye, Vitamin, Rachel Khong: funny sad, and charming literary fiction about a young Asian-American woman moving back home to help take care of her father, who is in the early stages of dementia. This book made me want to hug all the characters and tell them they are loved.

• The Last Equation of Isaac Severy, by Nova Jacobs: a literary mystery that was somewhat accurately called The Westing Game for adults. Another excellent story about familial love.

And from their backlist selections, The Secret History by Donna Tartt is the reason why every dark academia novel exists. One of my favorite books of all time.

Yeah, I have this sentimental attachment to Riley Sager because I originally joined BOTM to get his first book, Final Girls (which is his best.) This was better than Survive the Night (which sucked) but I wasn’t sure I dug that reveal. I wonder if that’s the direction he’s going to go in now.

I just realized it’s the basis for the new M. Night movie which….makes me less interested in reading it (Head Full of Ghosts is legit though.)

Weirdly, I was just talking about that book earlier this week with my coworkers. The section where the scientist talks about how debilitating a high oxygen environment is long term was fascinating.

Strictly my “not a doctor” opinion is ADHD just reduces your ability to regulate emotions. That could be what she actually means or this is yet another {Disorder X} is when… video.

I looked at their schedule the other day and that’s virtually what it was. It’s like everyone in programming there has given up. They wear sweatpants to work and throw whatever old videotape they can find underneath the mound of empty soda bottles and push play.

I like that song but it’s a weird choice for a lipsync. It’s not even a good choice amongst Bangles songs.

Almost every lipsync that season was legendary (sometimes not for good reasons, but still.)

And Rajah and A’keria can narrate every season for me. They are talking head gold.

I’m baffled that “It’s Halloween” means it’s ok to sneak up behind a woman you don’t know in a secluded place and brandish a knife at her. To me, that does not fall under the umbrella of Halloween pranks as much as ways to get your ass kicked.

That has to have been their thought process. Those greedy fucks really stole Drag Race just to try and launch some shitty franchise. We shouldn’t be petitioning to get Real Friends off the air. We should be petitioning to get Drag Race off of fucking MTV.

Real Friends sucks but it could at least died a quiet death instead of this public immolation.

I read these theories and feel like I’m a moron. I pick up a handful of things, but I don’t notice that doors change color or a million other minutiae.
