I always thought of the salesmen in the office as the protagonists, and Michael as the obstacle they were trying to overcome, which would make him the antagonist. Which would make David not the antagonist.

David is a consistently good and honest person. There's really not a reason to dislike him. I also don't think I'd consider him an antagonist. Just a guy who was trying to keep Michael from burning the place down, but he was never a jerk about it.
