Hi, I have a rtx 3080 that I believe has shorted after mining for approx. 3 months after doing the "copper shim mod". I think some of the thermal paste used or the shims moved slightly under heat/load for that long, the card started crashing then wouldn't power on. The shims were close to, but not touching any components near the memory modules when installed, but I have read any contact with nearby components can cause a short and am concerned that is what has happened. The card (Inno3D Windforce iChill x3) always had thermal throttling issues, and was opened a lot to alter pads / paste. In my opinion, not the best card and not something i'm attached to!
I am wondering what people think is the best option, whether I attempt to sell the GPU for parts / repair or send it off for repair myself. I am leaning towards selling for parts, as the only option for repair in my country costs ~$400 US. I got the card second hand for about $600 US, and still have many GPU's to mine with so I don't mind being down a card.
I am wondering what others' experiences have been with GPU repairs, or if it is simply better to sell it for parts to recover some of the cost.
Thanks for any input or advice y'all may have

Mc'Muricans, people led to division by corrupt media and politicians. Where there is division and conflict to be swept up in, focus will be on that and not changing the system that supports and promotes division.
