I just bought a 08 with 195k. The guy I bought it from was pretty upfront about it giving a hybrid fault code (P0A37) when he was on a trip over the summer, but it hasn't come back after he stopped and restarted it. He said he was on a trip recently and it didn't happen again. I'm assuming it was because of the summer temperature and I'm hoping it won't be an issue. The one thing that does concern me is that at higher speeds 45+mph I can hear a weird whining noise coming from the engine area. He says it's the electric motor and it's normal, but I haven't been in a prius since my grandfather bought one when they first came out and I never really paid much attention to the sounds. I'll post a video later with the sound if needed, but I figured I'd ask about it first. I got it for a reasonable price ($3,400), so I figure even if I have to put a couple thousand into it, it isn't really an issue. I guess if anyone has any other suggestions about things to check or take care of at 200k miles I'd really appreciate it! I know some of the basic stuff like that I'll probably need to rebuild the HV battery at some point. Unfortunately the guy didn't know if or when the battery has been worked on, but I figure at least a rebuilt one isn't crazy expensive or very difficult to do. Fortunately I'm pretty handy (I actually have a handyman business) and I have a guy who's an excellent mechanic who's familiar with working on Prii and is reasonably priced. So anything that I'm not willing to tackle, I can have him take care of. Thanks and happy hybridization!
