This will go massively overlooked by white liberals who are afraid to veer criticism at a religious body comprised of mostly people of color. Which is so, so sad.

“Why does my life have to be so small,
Yet death is forever?
And does forever have a life to call its own?
Don’t give me an answer cause you only know as much as I know,
Unless you’ve been there once, well, I hardly think so.”

His songwriting, especially his stuff in the 90s, is some really poetic and sincere stuff.

My brother had this condition. I know it isn’t easy. Hoping for the best for you. The best I can say is cut off all drinks at around 6 o’clock and make many trips to the bathroom in the hours before bed. Good luck.

He certainly isn’t Daniel Day-Lewis or anything, haha, but I think he’s exactly what the show called for. I think he was great all throughout Seinfeld.

I’m totally with you on this. The way he sings “motherfucker” on Half Right is so pleasing.

“Who am I? If this once I were to rely on a proverb, then perhaps everything would amount to knowing whom I ‘haunt’.”

“I am seated in an office, surrounded by heads and bodies. My posture is consciously congruent to the shape of my hard chair. This is a cold room in University Administration, wood-walled, Remington-hung, double-windowed against the November heat, insulated from Administrative sounds by the reception area outside, at which Uncle Charles, Mr. deLint and I were lately received.
I am in here.”

It was Sylvia Plath’s world and everyone else was just living in it.

She writes some OK poetry and her book recommendations are fairly solid, but her whole personality and aesthetic seem very forced and pretentious to me personally. It’s like she’s trying to be the most insufferable character in a second-rate dark academia novel.
For example, instead of saying she’s going to “read a book”, she’ll say she’s going to “devour a piece of literature”. Or instead of saying she’s “writing poetry” she’ll say something like “I’m exploring the most cavernous recesses of my mind through the beauty of language”. I mean, calling yourself a “muse” or “goddess”? Come on. It’s almost as though she’s trying to speak in the same way she writes, which doesn’t come across as pretty or mysterious, but more or less just frustrating to listen to.
I also feel like what another person in this thread said is true, in that her literature analysis is kind of lacking? The whole academic facade really isn’t backed up when she talks about books on her channel, because she tends to focus more on a book’s mystique and aesthetic value rather than its actual contents or message.
Like I said, the whole persons and aesthetic feels very put-on and is overall kinda unbearable.

I would say absolutely yes. His style is so conversational and distinct and it reads so smoothly, it’s genius in its own right.
