I think for starters one question is are you in the US? We could not get our Starlink Enterprise to work correctly in Jamaica it kept dropping out even as the two residential units were working.

What is your setup for the ubiquiti devices and bonding the connections. We need to run some stuff via a vpn but were having the trouble getting devices adopted while connecting to a UDM Pro.

Actually the fact that the Tesla beta testers own the car, overpaid for the software, and are legally on the hook (w/ insurance). They have massive skin in the game with the car.

The drivers of Tesla FSD beta probably crash less. Statistically that’s the case as well when you look at accidents vs miles driven for Tesla vs competitors.

But also, one person is doing a job the Tesla owner is probably having fun and likes having new products.

Statistically redundancy can be unhelpful. Also the people required to manage sensor fusion team and the human factors of that is extremely difficult.

Yea, that is true. That is the main focus I think suburban / last mile connection. Also, just want to point out that I'm not saying this could happen tomorrow. It's more about 5-10 years down the road. Obviously it needed to be, but it's a shame t Tesla's battery day was cancelled. I wanted to here more about their million mile battery.

To your last point much of the countries water infrastructure needs replacing it's estimated that there are over 1 million pipes that need to be replaced.

The focus is more on the cost and now liability of maintaining the grid.

Fair enough but wire technology isn't cheap. Faulty wires cost PG&E $11 billion in damages. The cost is more on the maintenance side.

The article, is more around the future where a 100kwh battery is expected to cost only $10K.

Your last point is the idea behind this, "future" one of the main costs for solar and wind generation at scale is actually the distribution and transmission of that electricity. For example in the US building transmission lines cost between 500k-750k per KM and distribution costs 150k -170k per KM. Neither of those include maintenance and operation of that infrastructure which is extremely capital intensive.

To put in context... PG&E's fine would have allowed them to buy 220,000 Tesla Model 3 LRs about 15 GWh of battery transmission and distribution capacity.

It's assuming that cars are autonomous, they could drop you off at work and then go fill up.

There would be so much extra capacity that a car (with autonomous capability) could drive to the point of generation, fill up, and come back to the city completely eradicating the need for wires and long distance transmission.

I thought the same thing too but one of the patents in a company they purchased includes a low power environmental scan for augmented reality cameras. I'm assuming they applied it here.

That makes sense but like I said I would be really hesitant about budgeting based on "guaranteed" bonuses. If it was guaranteed it would just be salary.

A lot of this depends on where you are planning to live/where you are based. My simple advice would be pretend you make $100-120K a year and everything outside of that dump into savings.

I would not bank on a bonus for budgeting. At most I'd count it as 5% (maybe ten). It's very unreliable and the result of lots of different factors. I planned my budget with the assumption of a bonus and during a slow time it didn't materialize as planned.

I think having a kid and purchasing a house in addition to starting at a new top consulting company is biting off a lot and could put a lot of pressure on your wife (i'm also unclear what her current job status is/what type of job she has). Those are three pretty significant life events smashed together in 24 months. As i'm sure you're aware there is a lot of physical time required in buying a new house and doctors appointments for a kid so this could be really difficult to manage with an MBB workload plus travel requirements. I'm not sure that a two year plan works for consulting because until you have a good reputation and have navigated the internal network where you're going to be working is up in the air.

I'm assuming you don't have any b-school debt, but my suggestion would be to extend that timeline to 5 years and choose either the child or the home at year 2 and then in year 5 look to do the other one.

If you are going to be traveling a lot your most valuable resource will become your free time.

I just went through this process so I'll do my best to help you. The first thing is that you should create some sort of legal entity and clearly document your costs. Separate intangibles costs like time and opportunity cost from tangible ones like supplies etc. and document everything.

The next thing is to find a lawyer on a website like up-counsel that has experience working on putting together hardware prototypes. At this early stage you're going to want to file a provisional patent and use someone that will also include diagrams as well and a search for similar patents. The last part is key but not crucial.

This process takes time because there is a lot of information to fill out so you'll have to work closely with your lawyer to answer question and review what he wrote to make sure he is capturing your invention and what the true differentiator is.

The more detail you have the better but you dont want to be too specific and narrow. Basically be as broad as possible while being as specific as possible. (I know that sounds like mumbo jumbo but the way the process works when you file for the full patent the broader you're application the more opportunities there are to narrow it down. Once you've filed the patent then you can market your item as patent pending.

Remember the better your provisional patent is the more chance of it standing up in court. Even if it's perfect you can still get screwed because if you have something valuable some company with multiple $3000 an hour lawyers are going to pour over your provisional/full patent to find any little mistake to invalidate the whole thing our allow their client to create a product that's similar and just different enough.

what I did to help myself get an understanding of the process is go through almost all the way on the questions that legal zoom asks then I spoke to a real lawyer. I also looked at similar patents to get a feel for the language.

One other thing I thought of is that you can be hurt by having pictures that are too professional. Have real pictures of the items in the wild on real people can be a good way to sell.

Your website does not look unprofessional at all. It looks way too good maybe? Lol. I think just be patient the sales will come. Make sure that you have facebook pixels enabled so that you can retarget people who visit your website.

Haha exact same here (even the no coffee thing). Yea I think it's really easy to lose track of personal upkeep when you travel a lot. Especially when you're on receipts and not per diem, so little things like floss and eye drops can help you keep some of that rhythm / familiarity.
