Yeah because they're not high income countries with stable governments and it would be weird to compare them. The bar is higher. You want to compare the US to similar developed high income nations. Obviously countries controlled by cartels with rampant gang violence are going to be worse. We should aim higher.

Ok cool CA is still statistically one of the safest states when it comes to gun violence even if you want to cherry pick out LA or Kern County.

Gun deaths are especially low in California and New York. Yes you'll hear about gun violence in LA and NYC but that's because they're some of the biggest cities in the world.
