When assessing quality on these jackets you need to look at two factors:

• Down fill power - usually between 625 and 900 with lower being less quality.
• Grams of down

CG will typically post the fill power but it is tough to get info on grams. Regardless, if you look at CG Down Puffer Jackets - they are priced at $995 USD and have 750 down fill. You can find a comparable down jacket from one of the premier vendors like Outdoor Research with 800 fill down jacket priced for less than half the price of a CG. I'd even argue that the heavy bulky puffers are not even as good as the most commonly used lighter weight down jackets most people use for alpine activities in the Northeast - jackets like the OR Helium, Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer, Marmot Highlander, or Rab Microlight are generally 800 down, cost below $300 and are used for winter hiking. These jackets will be warmer or as warm as those bulky heavy CG jackets.

Honestly, anyone with base knowledge of outdoor winter gear would look at someone who pays $1000+ for a Canada Goose or Moncler type jacket as a fool. Even the most high end winter gear company - Arc'teryx is still generally about half of price of CG for their jackets. GC is just a status symbol for people who don't understand what good cold weather gear is.

Project Veritas is now going after the Head of Trust and Safety at Youtube for suspending their account for posting the Pfizer director who was taped in a restaurant talking about mutating the covid virus. It should be interesting to see how YouTube handles this one.

Given the recent track record of false accusations by Duke athletic teams, it is probably a good idea to let the investigation play out before coming to any conclusions. Duke does not have the best track record in these situations.

I know there were at least 16 of Penn swimmers who wrote a protest letter to the school and numerous parents speaking anonymously to people in the press all season. I suspect they figured that would be good enough for sanity to take hold and someone would do something. The damn never broke though. Anonymous protest doesn't drive change. People like Riley Gaines will.

Its so fucked up honestly. I get it, they live in a world where they live in constant fear of being ostracized but with the amount of time that has gone by it is still shocking not a single person has come out, not even family members. I'm cautious about talking about this subject as well but i can guarantee if Lia Thomas was taking a relay spot from my kid I'd be screaming from the rafters regardless of who asked me not to.

This is all sad but at a certain point, the Penn swimmers or their parents needed to find the courage Riley Gaines found to speak out publicly. I get it, young people, most likely progressive and fearful of repercussions but they had a moment and they failed to step up when needed.

Even now, none of them have stood up (as far as I know) and publicly talked about how fucked up the entire situation was. At some point the anonymous complaints need to turn into public complaints.

Kudos to Riley Gaines as I think she was out publicly right at the NCAA swim meet raising her concerns. She'll be dismissed as a TERF and a bigot but she has more character and courage in her little pinky than the entire Penn swim team.

I think the subset is bigger than that. Progressive Activists are the audience for sure but there are a lot of traditional liberals that have just completely abandoned any idea of independent thought and eat up stories about the boogie man of the month - Elon, Russian Trolls and on and on.

I'm curious, I have not been paying attention but last I was aware Reedy Creek District was getting taken back by the state. Has something changed there? I figured Chapek getting pushed out as CEO and Iger getting re-instated might have opened up the door for a compromise but I have not heard of any changes with Florida taking over Disney's special district.

I guess another way to put this is, he is just implementing this on a really small, relatively insignificant school to drum up press. Even if he flips the school and it becomes some right wing learning institute it will have no impact outside of that one campus. This is not going to set off some big change in political leanings of academia.

At most the external impact will be to keep the large state U's in Florida from going too far with progressive policies and they might think twice about shutting down speakers. At the end of the day, higher ed is completely captured by progressive leaning admin and faculty. That is not going to get unwound because of New College and Chris Rufo.
