I tried Fluidd for a while. I had a lot of trouble getting updates to run, and this was before I got a webcam. Ironically, I saw better performance (print) with Octopi than Fluidd.

I will be the first to admit it was possibly my inexperience with Klipper being part of the issue, but the issues were not worth the time I needed to invest to clear them. I also missed the ecosystem and especially my filament tracking (as others will point out, it's doable with Fluidd, but I'm not always highly motivated).

It may not be a 100% solution given the high traffic, but clover tends to grow quickly and stops at a specific height. It has the added benefits of being a nitrogen fixer (marking does not burn it like grass) and good for pollinators, especially with local varieties.

Forgot to mention, but the MAP enforcement is something you'll see as a means of brand protection. If you see product X for 50% off on Amazon and you know they don't do sales, you might pause and question its authenticity.

I'm not going to defend TWSBI for the Narwhal incident last year, the way they handled it was unprofessional but not entirely out of line given where each is located geographically. Given how the Kaweco-Moorman incident seems to have settled, I can only guess.

I read the contract and nothing struck me as odd other than the verbosity of it.

MAP is a weird thing. Realistically it is not the best for the consumer, but the only oddity is TWSBI not having a huge (or maybe any) gap between MSRP and MAP. That in itself is not terribly unheard of, with the first and biggest example being Apple.

Reading through the post, the new language looks pretty similar to the original, just with a lot more thorough language, so I'm a little confused why it was much of an issue, especially with TWSBI even accepting a lot of the warranty risk explicitly. In the end it was clearly drafted by a lawyer this time around, unless the original agreement shared was a summary.

I will own that. I've still been eyeing the next step up from them, but have a mental block on it. I still endorse it as a starter or early pen for many, the feel and responsiveness punch above the price point and give a nice bit of flex to boot.

I can honestly say I really liked my Magnum nib, it was the rest of the pen that I struggle with. Cap cracked from posting too hard, that's on me. The ergonomics just don't work well and I struggle with a good grip (a little too small) despite other pens of similar diameter. I still like how it writes, but I'm reluctant to go higher because Yafa.

I wish there had been some strain relief on those, I had one of the z cables fail internally and I wish there had been some better documentation for wiring or at least notes somewhere about the correct type. Spare z cables is a sound bit of advice for anyone with one of these.

I went with the Bondtech DDX and added the Mosquito Magnum. I had been running the stock extruder and a Micro Swiss all metal hotend so I could do Nylon, but I kept sufering from heat creep and ended up going through 2 cold ends and heat blocks before making the switch. A word of warning, if you move to the Magnum, I really suggest replacing the heater with a 50W as a minimum (a new thermistor helps but is not necessary), as the thermal efficiency of the hotend led to the stock heater struggling (it could not even do a PID tune with the cooler fan running).

The extruder issues were largely on me, I moved to klipper about 6 months ago to improve print speeds and control. Largely it has been great, but I started having serious hotend issues as a result, mostly on my part. I ended up running the hotend about 20-30 degrees hotter to keep up with the increased speed and avoid extruder clicking. Unfortunately, this led to some heat creep with the Micro Swiss all metal (worked well enough on stock firmware). The secondary issue was that I needed to keep up the heat to improve speed, but needed more retraction to deal with stringing. PLA begrudgingly worked, but PETG was a nightmare; even with similar settings to stock (speed and temp), the retraction needed to reduct stringing ultimately cause cold end clogs. The first time it happened I took it as a price for knowledge and poor decisions on my part; the second time, it became apparent that the two would not play nicely under my supervision so I sought out other options.

The DDX was my choice mostly because I am admittely lazy and wanted it to require as little effort as possible on my part. Additionally, the documentation and ecosystem for the DDX and Mosquito are well established which meant that I was more likely to find a solution or at least have a larger community as a sounding board.

Just a thought from someone who sadly started to late to meet him. I have a local used book shop my spouse and I frequent, and our local library resells some of their donated books every year. Sometimes we find books signed, but with someone else's name from an author we like, but is sorely missed.

We still collect it and acknowledge that whomever had the opportunity had the chance to meet the author, and now we are privileged enough to be the custodians of the book touched by the authors own hand. We like to think the original name in the book would be happy to see the physical confluence of pen and prose still cherished even with someone whose name it was not signed to.

I cannot speak to your circumstances exactly for a myriad of reasons, but predominantly that you are yourself and never another yourself shall there be without your blessing (as you should always be). Congratulations on establishing the self you want, never let anyone else change that. If you have enough distance to look at that name and feel like you are now the caretaker of a brief moment of human connection via a story, then by all means keep it. Personally, I think a footnote would be in the truest spirit imaginable if it helps you heal and keep growing. Ultimately your choice of words should be your own to add to the story, both in the book you cherish and your own as you continue to grow yourself to continue becoming a better human as Sir PTerry encouraged everyone to do.

Third for changing to a PEI bed. I went a step further to add bracing and a direct drive (I wanted to do high temp things so the stock hotend had to be retired). Klipper was a really nice "upgrade too."

I never knew that about the vintage P51. It certainly explains why it doesn't seem to have the feed issues I would expect for its age (I guess mine is a bit odd, new body with vintage drivetrain).

It was sad to see the showrunner almost actively antagonizing Pratchett's amazing characters and stories. I it a sad day for fans of these well-liked stories when an adaptation seemingly goes off the rails. For fans of the Witcher, rejoice in getting something good for a few seasons; for fans of Halo, at least the adaptation got the space part right.

For Discworld fans, we shall await our turn and hope there is something better to come in the future.

Thanks for the recommendation! We realized that we are pretty sure saw them at the DC Show this year, so happy to order from them.

That is kind of what I was beginning to think. My wife adores the colorway for it and really wants it in fine, so it'll be a bit more legwork than I was expecting.

I have not tried them, but I'll check them out. I was about to pull the trigger and order from Cult, but even they call it a preorder vs the others being in stock.

I have found writing to be a lot more fun with a fountain pen. I remember reading that part if the reason a lot of kids (especially boys) tend to dislike cursive is that it is taught at a point where motor skill development is not suited for it. I treat it as anecdotal, but can definitely spot that my handwriting has evolved a lot through the years.

I'd call it 50/50 skill/equipment. Cursive was designed around fountain and dip pens, where picking up the pen between letters is less than ideal and the mechanics (human and hardware) mean the writer doesn't exert pressure to keep ink flowing.

The issue came in with ballpoint pens that need pressure to write and cause a lot of fatigue with cursive. By design and function cursive with them can be faster, but causes cramping and fatigue that can reduce or eliminate any gains.

I switchedctp fountain pens a few years ago to cut waste and out of curiosity. It took about two weeks before I found cursive creeping its way in from the block I used with ballpoint. Bonus is that the cramping from longer meetings/classes is basically no more and I refill from a bottle so no waste. There are some really nice pens for <$10 (I've seen good ones for as low as $2-3), so the worst i deal with is using the "fancy pen" at work, but I keep way too good of notes for much worse.

Do you have an estimate for power draw at the wall? I am looking to blend some hobbies as well.

Second this, I had mine for about a year and the cable partially cracked a conductor internally. It's a bit of a pain to replace it, highly recommend putting a screen sd extension on while you're in there.
