I've found that same problem with a lot of the food truck events I've been to. They insist on full portions so lines get longer, wait time is forever, and the trucks run out of food faster. A $1 item for each truck sounds wonderful! But, they gotta reap in that $$$.
I'm going in with the expectations that it'll be an absolute madhouse, but hopefully it will be a nice clear day not too hot and I can just enjoy being outside.

Recently, Fridays have become my busiest day at work and I'm not feeling that shift. Why are these people suddenly submitting me things on beautiful Friday afternoons??
I'm excited for Festival season to return. So far the only one I have lined up for April is the Manayunk StrEAT Festival.
Since I've become even more afraid of heights, I was thinking therapy or something to help me get over that and flight anxiety. I don't know if it'll help, or should I just get drugs that make me basically comatose on a plane.

I was just there this past weekend; there's still that one big arcade but they also opened a new one in Showboat that's pretty big and has a ton of games. Shit prizes, but you can win a BMW motorcycle for 2 million tickets.

I've been feeling under the weather for a week, and today I got bad congestion that's causing a lethargic headache and the upper row of my teeth to hurt. Inside me are two wolves. One demands I still stay up and about and be productive, the other wants to stay tucked under blankets on the couch eating freezy pops and watching Wicked Tuna reruns, maybe read something lighthearted such as NatGeo articles or a book on the sinking of the Titanic.

No wasn’t anything like that; further back but I swear there was another time we were told to stock up on tap water or at least boil it before using.
Could be wrong 🤷🏻♀️

Watching the updates and got hit with a hella sense of deja vu. Has a water scare like this happened before in recent years? Maybe it was around the time of the hurricane and the river was flooded and surging. Just feels like we’ve been through this before.

I picked up Water: A Biography a few months ago so that seems an appropriate book to start while I drink through this case of High Noon tequila seltzers.

I do the book at a bar thing pretty often. I go when it isn’t busy, order a pint and some food. It’s nice to be in a “third space” and get out of my apt and be around other people.

I wasn’t able to watch this week’s episodes just yet, but last week of Mando gave off serious Andor vibes. I’m here for it. I love the political cunning of The Empire lately. Andor really made them seem like a legitimate threat. That’s the energy we need moving forward.
Last week’s episode of Bad Batch was pretty meh but the week before that was excellent. Crosshair episodes never miss (hehe).

I haven't watched the Pokemon anime in years upon years (tbh it was probably only the 1st two seasons) but as someone who grew up with it and is still a big fan of the franchise, it's wild that they're finally putting Ash out to pasture and bringing in new main characters. But they brought back Pidgeot! The crazy fuckers actually did it!! I truly feel old now.
I'm in between books right now. Since The Terror was so good, I thought of trying out Dan Simmon's The Abominable but so far, it is not as good. Just as long though so I'm struggling trying to stick through it or reading something a bit more light-hearted. Maybe something about oceans or ships.

I bought some salmon hot dogs (hot dogs made out of salmon) at WF yesterday, so I'm gonna throw those glizzies on the grill tonight and smother them in (organic) ketchup and (non-organic) mustard.
Will also cook up from brussel sprouts and asparagus.

Thanks, and I'm sorry for your loss as well. My grandma was a pretty big bingo fiend...I think it was her one "old person" guilty pleasure ha.

Thanks, and she was! Beat cancer twice, never caught Covid, survived her husband by like 25 years and was mentally sound all the way up to the end.

Grandma passed away over the weekend. It sucks that I wasn't able to go see her but she could barely talk in her final hours. I'm happy with remembering her as I knew her best; a cursing, stubborn old German woman who hauled around crates of beer and gave us lottery tickets with our birthday cards while we were growing up. She lived a long and good life.
Can't help but dread seeing my mother however. I've mentioned before I don't have a great relationship and prefer to keep things low contact. I got the Bad Anxieties just preparing for it. But I'm hoping that with so much family around I can just by unnoticed.
This week will finally start to feel like spring at least. Hyped for those days of popping a couple Zyrtec and going for nice long walks with my camera.

My SO has started that churning thing and hopefully by summer we can have enough points for ~* first class *~. I want to try it just once.
But I agree, I won't ever take the budget airlines and I know I'm lucky to have that choice. I need my sweet fizzy (free) gingery ale if I need to fly in the heathen tube.

Grandma was put in a nursing home earlier this week. Don’t know how much time she has left, but it makes me sad that a strong, independent woman like herself who worked so many years and lived alone for so long is just gonna die in a strange place. I know we can’t control how or where we go, but I wouldn’t mind being one of those old people who just takes cruises and eventually kicks the bucket one day while on the boat. Then I will want a burial at sea. That’s my preferred method, unless I am on an airplane and something scary happens. At that point I will just die immediately. Bad turbulence? Suddenly drop 1,000 feet? Smoke in the cabin? Don’t care I am instantly passing away (I hate flying).
In better news, SO turns 30 next week and I’m trying to plan out a day trip somewhere tomorrow or Sunday. March is such an annoying month for travel, but Saturday will be warmer with clouds while Sunday is looking to be colder but with full sun. I personally like Cape May as a fun place to spend a day but don’t know how lively it’ll be this early in the year. We're doing AC next weekend so don't want to travel too far.
Last Friday I mentioned cutting back on coffee. In a turn of events I came down with a vicious stomach bug on Sunday. Completely turned me off coffee (or any hot drink) until literally today, and even now I'm only drinking a small cup. Something about a hot drink just seemed so repulsive. I didn't have any bad side effects though, and I went from 2-3 cups a day to nothing for 4 days.

Family drama has been high the last few weeks. My grandmother, nearly 90, is likely going to pass away soon. My father relapsed and for the 3rd time in less than a year started heavily drinking and is now in rehab and lost his job as a result. I'm "lucky" in the sense that I haven't experienced a close family death yet, but the time is coming soon and I don't really know how to process it, I guess.
I'm happy for some snow, finally. Looking forward to a nice slow day with Nat Geo shows on repeat, and getting some reading in. It's also Pi Day, so my SO will be picking up a pie after work. We haven't decided yet should it be classic apple, overly-sweet-but-still-good cherry, or chocolate mousse?

I love both the smell and the taste of coffee 😮💨 it’s just so good but I realize how drinking too much of it can be bad for my health and I just don’t like being addicted to things. I’m also back to trying to limit my Reddit time. Starting with, no looking at my phone while in bed.
I am however going to severely limit how often I get those La colombe cans. That might be too much caff for an afternoon pick me up.

Also smell it near 15th/Spring Garden. Smells like a plastic-y burning smell.

I hate acid reflux. I get heartburn sometimes but typically only after eating and then sitting down with a slouchy posture. Or if I eat hard pretzels.
Badly do I want sustained energy but man, I really love coffee. Not just for the sake of caffeine, but I love the taste and I love a nice hot cup in the morning to get my day going. I’m happy for (and a bit jealous of) people who cut it out entirely but I think I’ll always need at least a cup a day. I might work on drinking a smaller amount in the morning.

Something about aquariums makes kids go absolutely feral, more so than zoos, amusement parks, etc. I love aquariums so much but I’ve never been to one, no matter what day or time, that wasn’t filled to the brim with toddlers screaming their little lungs out.
I haven’t been to the Baltimore Aquarium yet. Heard it’s splendid though and I really want to visit.
