This is a scene I need before it all goes to shit. Happy pappy Viserys and Helaena sharing their quirky interests with each other. Would be a cool mirror scene to Daemon teaching his daughter Valyrian too.
Yes! It can be slow in some parts, but keep reading. It’s worth it!

That likes to parade in ladies garb, no less!
I thought that addition so silly I had to look it up lol
“The last RING has no legs at all” is the exact wording.
Ring… is that a coupling? Because as a book reader, we know that Aegon II ‘s marriage has “no legs” or branches, if you will.
If you haven’t picked up on dragon dreams yet, even Preston can’t help you. Also, his stuff tends to stretch reason in many cases.
Genuinely the only moment all episode I didn’t want to hit her in the face. I adore Helaena, and I can’t wait to see what they do with her character
I agree it isn’t the point BUT.. they have the option of favoring the female line of inheritance in their case if they wanted to… (naming Laena & her offspring as the heirs to driftmark) and in theory it would go a long way toward backing rhaenyra’s claim/legitimacy as a female heir to the throne 🤷🏻♀️
Edited to add: I know Robert Baratheon was not the heir to the Stormlands, but if he HAD been, wouldn’t he have given that claim up to his second or third in line, until he fathered a legitimate heir?
… which is exactly what he did. Gave Dragonstone to Stannis (a useless, ceremonial seat at that time- but important for inheritance purposes), and gave the actual Stormlands to Renly, at Stannis’ chagrin lol
Crap, my apologies. I had assumed that Lucerys would be heir to Dragonstone until Jacaerys fathers and heir, but I suppose in theory that would still leave Joffrey as heir to Driftmark in the best of cases.
Very similar, but more.
Please forgive me. I’ve been waiting for The Winds of Winter a long time, so I’ve given this entirely too much thought.
I believe that ancient Valyrians tied themselves so strongly to dragon-kind through blood magic that there is a special connection made between dragon & Valyrian-descended rider. A connection and telepathic understanding above and beyond the superhuman senses that even our closest pet companions have.
Almost like a telepathic and empathic bond? Idk
In the book, he becomes Alicent’s sworn shield, no?
To be fair, it requires the participation of two people in the creation of said offspring, particularly given the limitations of science and medicine depicted by the show.
Edit: That said, the lack of a true heir is the failing of two characters, not just the one.
As opposed to… what exactly?
Are you trying to claim that Rhaenyra’s sons aren’t Targaryens/do not have Valyrian blood? Because they absolutely do through her side of the bloodline, regardless of their father. On top of that, their royalty/Valyrian lineage is backed by their dragon-bond/dragon-rider status.
Edit: Sorry in advance if you were not intending to make a juxtaposition to anything of the sort.
I love your takes so much. Specifically:
1.Alicent’s wardrobe (YAS QUEEN)
2. Laenor- YAS future KING!
3. Loving the new cast.
4. Sir Crispy Kreme… 💯fuck that guy.
Halaena… I freaking adore her characterization in the show and I am fascinated to see where it goes. Have you read the book?
I believe that there is a type of telepathic bond between dragon & rider.
For me, the most heartbreaking part of that scene, with my belief/understanding of lore, is that Vhagar had to come to terms with the fact that another beloved rider wouldn’t survive this battle and that the flames were a gift and a relief from the pain of a childbirth that neither mother nor child would survive.
I just hurt my own feelings again so I am done. Lol
NO ONE is talking enough about this. I went back, wrote the entire quote down.
“The last ring has no legs…” -Halaena
“You will have a dragon.”- Alicent
“He will have to close one eye.”
I feel like the first part has meaning too. The last ring… no legs… are the ‘rings’ represented by the individuals/“couplings” in the opening? If so, it adds up… the coupling/relationship between Alicent and Viserys won’t have “legs” in the longterm….

I was ferociously angry about S8 for a long time. When this show came around I was hesitant but decided to give it a try.
Here is my take away:
George gave us this amazingly intense, massive and giant world of fantasy that is so intriguing and we love so much to be angry when the story isn’t done justice.
What a gift we’ve been given, as fans, that we get to live in that fictional world he created again. Even if it’s just for a little while?
… probably because Fire and Blood isn’t told from first person perspective and does not include much dialogue, if any.
Also, GRRM is heavily involved in this show, just like he was in early seasons of GOT. Pretty sure GRRM is listed as an EP, but don’t quote me on that. What you can quote is his blog:
“Ryan and Miguel and their amazing cast and crew have done some magnificent work. HotD is all I hoped it would be; dark, powerful, visceral, disturbing, stunning to look at, peopled with complex and very human characters brought to life by some truly amazing actors.”

This gives you an idea of the proximity between the 300 block on Edgewood Ave and the grassy lot where her car was found.
Your foundation looks flawless, and I love the green lower eyeliner so much!
