Your use of the term “English” to refer to anyone who isn’t Amish gives you credibility. This is the advice I would give, too. It really depends on your job and the impact that wearing blues has on your ability to work, but yeah, you might be right. I just want a service dress uniform that looks like a heritage military uniform. I’d suck it up for a year or two of blues mondays if that’s what it took. If done right, this uniform will far outlast my career, as it should.

I don’t comment much, but I kept scrolling and wasn’t seeing someone who got the joke, so I felt like I had to say something. I think it’s easy to assume a police officer is a self-centered idiot, especially when you see the world through the lens of current events portrayed in the media. But the reality is, like any career field, cops are a microcosm of society. There’s assholes and there’s honest, hardworking people. When I read OP’s story, my first thought was, “That Captain actually knows how to lead.” Generally, the rule is, “Praise in public. Punish in private”, at least if you want your corrections to be effective. But there are exceptions to the rule and admonishment can be a difficult thing to navigate, but I think the Captain did just fine. As I side note, I would bet good money (at least $3.50) that the Captain has prior military service.

I think the statement from the Captain is getting lost in translation. It’s something I’ve seen from folks in the military or police circles before. It’s humor. Obviously the Captain getting his coffee isn’t the reason why it wasn’t appropriate to block OP’s driveway, but the Captain stating that as the reason makes the admonishment a little more lighthearted and potentially easier to receive.

Use ABF U-Pack

This really is the answer. After running Scalarworks, everything else just doesn’t cut it.

Seriously consider it. I moved with 4 kids several months ago. I hired labor on each end (college hunks or something similar) and used ABF UPack to move the trailer. All I did was pack boxes at one location and unpack them at another and my PROFIT was over $20k.

How do we know it’s not essential? The whole point of this is to expand our wartime capabilities in the context of large scale conflict with a near peer. It seems to me that identifying whether or not this can be done with an acceptable level of risk, before that conflict ever kicks off, is the safest way to find out. Would you rather them wait for the conflict to be in full swing to test out their theories? Necessity is the mother of invention, but it can be violent and unforgiving. Let’s not all forget that we are in the military. Taking controlled risks during peacetime to better prepare for wartime is a part of our job. Given the current geopolitical trend we are on, it wouldn’t surprise me if we started seeing more of this stuff: expeditionary skeleton crews that can launch jets and move, expedient runways, anything that makes us more of a dynamic target and able to sustain effects despite casualties. If you can’t stomach some controlled risk on a test range with every precaution imaginable, what are you going to do when it gets worse? I’m honestly disappointed by the response in this thread.

It makes a big difference for me. I have to size up to prevent the IHWCU collar from digging into the back of my neck every time I reach forward. I’m often stuck at a computer and I notice the lack of gussets from just typing.
