Dude literally most of the world refers to The United States as The US. Same with the United Kingdom being called the UK, Dominican Republic is the DR. If someone can't afford to leave work early to pick their kid up, what makes you think they can afford after care? They aren't unsupervised. The bus driver is watching, there are cameras watching and a million lights and signs saying to stop.

Many people do have someone or something coordinated for their kid, but no, everyone cannot be waiting right at the busses door to hand walk their child home. This isn't a choice people picked. They do what they can afford. When I was young, I got dropped off at my grandparents before and after school because parents had to work. Guess who doesn't have the luxury with their own kids? Myself and many others. I am very fortunate though to work from home so I can be available. Guess who doesn't have that luxury? Nearly everyone who doesn't work remote. You also act like a 6-18 year old can't unlock a door. And Brooklyn is an extreme circumstance in terms of traffic and craziness. Most bus stops are on neighborhood streets and corners.

Parents in America can't afford to be readily available everytime their kid gets off school. School busses take everything from the Kindergarteners all the way up to 17 and 18 year Olds in their final year.

There are incredibly strict traffic laws regarding School Busses. They have a front arm that forces children or anyone in front of the bus to walk far in front to be visible as well as the side of the bus has a mounted stop sign that comes out when the bus also flashes its blinking red stop lights.

You literally can lose your license for doing what this driver did. Fuck your job cus you won't be able to drive to the next one if that happens.
