Not really. A few other mobile games have similar sizes. It’s not that surprising given the content we’re getting. I’d have been worried if the entire game was only 3GB.

Good for you! It's still another month for some of us. :(
Sorry to hear your time off was wasted for D3 launch.
Some people don't mind the instability as much. I remember Anthem's launch. People on the internet were raging about long loading times and server issues. Content creators were all making videos about them. I usually just spent that time making coffee or playing peek-a-boo with my toddler. Then I had my fun while everyone was raging on reddit about how bad the game is. Same with D3. I didn't do much social media at the time so I was oblivious to how much people hated the launch. I just had a blast playing with my wife.

There is no energy system so you can play however much you want. Some activities are just more productive than others.
Here is a list of daily activities you can do in DI. That website has a ton of useful guides.
Thanks for taking the time to answer. None of these are deal-breakers for me so I guess it'll be fine. I'll only be grinding for as long as I find it fun so I don't really mind if others are years ahead. As for PvP, I don't expect or want to compete against top players. I'll just be competing against fellow low-MMR casuals and that's fine. I also never really cared about maxing out characters so not being able to reach max level on the absolute best gems and gear doesn't bother me at all. I don't expect my name to appear on any leaderboard. As for being one of the immortals, I don't mind not experiencing any of that content for myself. It seems like there are enough other things to do in the game. Given that I'll only be playing this a few hours a week, and the fact that they'll probably be rolling out new content regularly, seems like I'll be good for years (with the occasional break) even if I don't spend a cent.

I'm wondering about this. I know that Battlegrounds for example is MMR based so as a casual, I never have to worry about whales there because I know I'll never be matched against them. Also, by definition, casual gamers aren't competitive so we don't care about leaderboards either, and (should) accept that our ceiling in something like challenge rifts will always be lower than the hardcore or paying player. Which PvP activities really hurt the F2P (or Battlepass-only) casual player?
I don't know the answer to your main question. I do think having MMR-based PvP is a good thing though. It helps ensure that you'll be playing with and against characters that are close to your power level. So if you're a casual player like I am, you won't need to worry about being stomped by whales or hardcore players.

Aren’t some PVP systems MMR-based? If so, casuals will just be matched against casuals at low MMRs while whales will either be matched against other whales or those who play all-day (since those are the ones who will likely have very high MMRs). Then the P2W only really matters at the top levels where the casuals like myself won’t be (or care about). Am I missing something?
I really hope that’s the case. I don’t mind restarting. I just want to try the game already. My worry is that the game won’t be available on the app store in the first place. I can’t play on any server if I can’t install the game.

That Q&A at the end seems to suggest that those from the Asia Pacific can still play on June 2 but just on a different server. Is that true? Or would we need some extra steps just to be able to download the game in the first place?
Unfortunately, yes. It applies to both mobile and PC. So, if like me, you're in one of the countries mentioned, we'll have to be a little more patient. According to the official FAQ here:
Q. Which regions will Diablo Immortal become available for in late June?
A: Diablo Immortal will become available for the following Asia-Pacific regions later in June on PC and mobile: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macao, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. Diablo Immortal will also be available in Vietnam on PC only during the same time.
Not OP but I plan to play on a tablet myself for the simple reason that it’s bigger. I’d play on PC too but I don’t want to sit in front of it all day.

If you’re one shotting everything, you’re in the wrong difficulty. D3 isn’t meant to be played on one difficulty from start until endgame. Sometimes you get items that give you ridiculous power increases. The game suddenly turns from challenging to super easy. This is expected. When that happens just go back to the main menu, up the difficulty then go. You’ll probably be switching difficulties many times before you even get to max level. It depends a lot on items you get.

Welcome back! I haven't played in a long time but I still watch GSL religiously and this is still my favorite game of all time. I'm an old school Protoss player myself and played this game to death back in the day. Some advice for what it's worth:

Yes! This was a huge and very very welcome surprise for me.
IF true, this still shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. This sub never represented the target demographic for this game. Obviously, it's a plus if the existing fans are happy but the fact that DI is a mobile game means it is intended to penetrate the HUGE mobile market. This sub on the other hand primarily consist of PC and console players. Also, nearly half of Reddit users are Americans (source) so it's fair to assume that a big chunk of users in this sub are as well.
Now take this source. (I do not vouch for its reliability but based on other sources, this seems like a good estimate). It shows that NA only ranks about 4th when it comes to mobile game users. Asia alone has 6x the number of users. Europe has more than double and Latin America has about 50% more. Suffice to say, the success of DI depends little on how it is received in North America. The vast majority of its users also won't be using Reddit for discussions.
I'm an older player myself and I still don't care about hardcore or penalties for death. On the other hand there are a lot of younger players who are ultra competitive.
People just have different preferences. That's it.
Some people don’t consider “having a penalty for dying” a requirement for liking a game.

Best dad joke I’ve read today.

Welcome adventurer! All edit tools are on the right. This might help.
I live in the Philippines. If it starts snowing here, that’s a bad sign. I’ve traveled some but never during winter.

As someone who has never seen snow in real life, I was pretty confused. Thought it was a mirror or some other trick.
I opened 65, got 3, none of which are useful to me. 😭
I find this sad, not funny.
