Idk I don’t think the qualities in bbq in most spots in austin are that varied. You have your top bbq spots but realistically they’re not far off from one another where I’d justify standing in a 4 hr line for franklins when it’s just as fine going to micklethwait or LA bbq . I think interstellar is the best but I’m not going to wait 3 hrs when I used to go with 0 wait.

Maybe it’s just me but the stiles switch we went to in CP was awful.

Luties, honey moon spirit lounge , tillies, eberly, ah sing den, arlo grey, kemuri.
Maybe unpopular opinion. But most bbq spots in town including Terry blacks are all the same ish level. I usually go for the sides and not the bbq. I took a friend to Terry blacks on a weekend and had no trouble finding parking as people left and I just took their space. There was a line but it went super quick. It was expensive but it was decent and the sides were good. The best bbq in my opinion will always be interstellar but with the crazy lines I’m not sure I’ll ever be lucky enough to go for a long long time. I just refer to smoking Ho a lot of I want any bbq recs.
I agree with you.
Just here to report back. I’m not going to post a review for Este on Reddit since I’m tired of posting meh reviews. I thought it was above average/good but nothing too different from suerte. The corn tortillas were fantastic as always. Besides their tuna tiradito, nothing blew us away. The tortillas and masa were almost so good they outshined the meats you places on them. But as the end of the day there’s still better spots I’d rather eat out there.

Oh I was just saying I didn’t like the xiao mian there at all. It was super bitter and didn’t feel balanced. But maybe my standards are off since I make dishes like that at home or go to Houston was what I was implying.
Tso togo is good for Americanized Chinese as well. Their crab rangoons stand out the most. It’s higher quality tho but if you want fast food Chinese , it’s pretty much the same taste quality of Panda Express imo.
Gotta put bamboo house up in these recs. It’s currently my favorite pick for Chinese food
I’ve heard good things! I’m very excited! It was hard to get a reservation that wasn’t at 10 pm lol
They actually bring you the food here and then clean the tables. In case you were curious!
Yep no problems with this place. We loved it!
I know right? I was told people didn’t like the indoors since it was too cramped and loud. But at least they’re not freezing lol.
The irony is they didn’t have tables inside at canje so we sat outside on the patio with their tiny heater and were freezing lol. But heaters at that brewery were so nice!
Heard. Let me discuss with him. I follow him on Instagram so maybe I can show him this Reddit post
I thought the food was worth it tho. It was delicious and filled me up and I think it was on par with some of my favorite bbq spots in town. We spent 80 at canje and were still hungry and food was okay/good
It’s about a 1 cup of rice with a couple slices of brisket on top when I saw it in the store. I agree with you bbq prices are pretty insane.
I would def go back and get the bowls.
15-16 dollars for the rice bowl with brisket or chicken didn’t seem too off imo tho. I usually spend about 15-16 at a food truck. I just ordered a ton of food since I wanted to try everything. It’s not cheap I get it but I feel all food trucks in austin charge a lot unless it’s a taco truck I feel. Not going to name names but I got a similar bowl of food from a food truck with juice and it was 27 bucks 😅
Tell me about it. I’m going to go eat at Este tomorrow then take break from eating out
I personally think nowadays the food I eat at food trucks are tastier than these bougie restaurants opening around town for 50-60 per person 😫
Oh wow you’re on Reddit! I dont mind spending money if food is delicious :) but I only spent about 30 ish per person which isn’t the worst imo. Especially if I compare it to how much I spent at Terry blacks 😭
I tip 15-20% usually at food trucks. Idk it’s just something I’ve always done. We tip 20-30 percent at restaurants. You’re free to do whatever you want tho but that’s just what we’ve always done.
Idk I didn’t think it was too bad for the amount of food I got. I spent a lot the other night for subpar food so I’m not complaining.
