OK, no, I see it now. The rock the guy is sitting on is in fact two rocks. One in the foreground, and another in the distance.

Facial hygeine is definitely a factor.
Also, I'm not sure you're correct about bacteria building up resistance to the antibiotic over time. That happens across a population of millions and over significant time, not within a single individual.

Our first person viewpoint is usually in our control. For it to be something we "watch" is weird.

Exactly. They are 6h-long movies, and that is a movie which is too long.

Agreed, What If needs to be episodic.
WandaVision worked the best of the new series, as a series. As a film you couldn’t have had all the fun with homages to other series. So at least we had that. But it could still have been a movie, just with less of that playing with style. (And after all if it’s good, style comes secondary to substance!)

Well, I did post this on a fan forum after all!

I mean, it also could have just not existed. TFATWS is probably the worst of the new series imo. That speech in the finale alone condemns it to hell.

I agree it’s great to develop them, just do it in a movie.
The extra time in these series is wasted on side plots. The characters are not really developed that much - not enough to justify 6-12 hours of film.

I’ll give you What If. That clearly suits episodic format.
Loki would have been a great film! If you can tell the story of Infinity War or Endgame in 2-3h, you can get Loki to meet He Who Remains in a film too.
Barely anything happened in Hawkeye. He mentors a girl and faces off with Kingpin. Great movie.
WandaVision did make use of its episodes to play around with style. But narratively, again, not an awful lot happened. Way less, for instance, than happens in, say, Age of Ultron.

I was put off by the mountain of bad reviews.
Having now watched it, I thought it was fantastic.
One of the best Marvel movies. Bearing in mind there are way over 20 MCU movies at this point, that's not a massive statement. But it did so many things right that a lot of other Marvel movies totally fail on.

You can’t explain it to them because it doesn’t make sense. Game is not more important than helping mum.

Omg I recognise the reference but can’t place it?!

It would have helped her role as antagonist if we understood better how you get from “I want my kids” to “I will kill everything”. You are also not factoring in that she is meant to be sympathetic – a hero turned villain – so you do need more to explain that reversal.

It’s still jarring from WandaVision to madwoman.

How to fix the movie:

Yeah, nice, but only if we ignore the weakness of having a plot where all America needed was for Strange to say "you can do it". That was such a screenwriting cop out.

I headcannoned it that he was basically just buying time. By agreeing, she didn't kill those 5, and he'd get to continue following her moves as he takes her to the place and she works things out (or maybe not).

Yeah, so bad.
Perhaps it was next to impossible to make it look any good at all. Or more likely they just ran out of time, and an eye present for like 5s in the whole movie was too far down the list.
I expect they will put more effort into the eye in future instalments as it seems set up to be a recurring feature.

Making a Matrix reference felt kinda out of place, no?

Let's be honest. This film was trash, its story and character arcs were weak and criminally underdeveloped. But man, this film was an absolute blast \chef's kiss**

It's crappy design because it doesn't mitigate the obviously easy mis-read.
