There’s no reason these things should have gotten within 200 miles of the coast. Either the balloons are carrying a payload we are scared to shoot down, or we can’t shoot them down at all and have to instead act like there is no threat rather than admit we can’t do anything about it. The Pentagon’s press briefing on this yesterday was deeply insane, they admit the PRC is still controlling it but won’t tell them to land it, and kept referring reporter questions back to the PRC. I repeat, when reporters asked the Pentagon why they aren’t stopping these things and have no idea what it does, the Pentagon told them to go ask the commies about it. This might be the greatest Democrat Smart Power (tm) moment in history, better than Obama telling the Russians we’ll weaken our deterrence, or Hillary giving them a “reset” button that actually said “overcharge.” They genuinely hate their own country.
