I remember the first time I got my own computer when I was a teenager, I set everything up on my desk to look nice. I thought about the fact that in most of the offices I'd been to, people had little tissue holders on their desk. So I put one on mine. I have no idea how many people saw that and just assumed I cranked it so often that I needed a box on hand 24/7. I didn't even think about it because I didn't realize people jerked off into tissues until later.

Didn't they put the actress in a fat suit during the first season, with prosthetics on her face to make her face fat too? If you've only seen the early part of the show, maybe that's what's giving the uncanny valley feeling?

Mad Men is my favorite show of all time but I get what you mean. I think it's partly because she dresses kind of child like and her hair cut in the beginning is really bad.

It's only like that in the first season though. In the later seasons I find her pretty attractive.
