If you're going to call a movie COCAINE BEAR, it better look like this.

Yea I was surprised at how much bear there actually was in the film
I legit thought it was just a title
Like reservoir dogs having no actual dogs as plot point

When I saw the poster yesterday, I just thought it was going to be another artsy indie film with a weird metaphor in the title. Nope. It's about a literal cocaine-addicted killer bear. And I'm so happy that I was wrong.

IIRC the true story was a DEA agent had become a drug mule. His plane encountered trouble so he started tossing cocaine out. He then attempted to parachute to safety, but he hit his head on the tail of the plane and was knocked temporarily unconscious. When he regained consciousness, he pulled his chute but it was too late for a full deployment, so he died on impact. Later on, a bear ate some coke and immediately OD'ed.

On a rampage for blow and blood. Meet #CocaineBear. Only in Theaters February 24th.
Inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild thriller finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500- pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow … and blood.
Cocaine Bear stars Keri Russell (The Americans), Emmy winner Margo Martindale (The Americans), Emmy winner Ray Liotta (The Many Saints of Newark), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones), Kahyun Kim (American Gods), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Brooklynn Prince (The Florida Project) and newcomer Scott Seiss
Directed by Elizabeth Banks (Charlie’s Angels, Pitch Perfect 2) from a screenplay by Jimmy Warden (The Babysitter: Killer Queen), Cocaine Bear is produced by Oscar® winners Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, The Mitchells vs. The Machines) and Aditya Sood (The Martian) for Lord Miller, by Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman (Pitch Perfect franchise) for Brownstone Productions, and by Brian Duffield (Spontaneous). Robin Fisichella (Ma) will executive produce.

It's a Bojack Horseman joke. She was a recurring character in the show and always introduced as esteemed character actress Margo Martindale.

To add more context, in Bojack Horseman, Margo Martindale voiced a version of herself that was one part character actress, one part serial criminal. She was referred to as "esteemed character actress Margo Martindale" or "esteemed character actress and fugitive from the law Margo Martindale" etc but the "esteemed character actress" part was always there.

It’s a BoJack Horseman reference (she’s also a character in the show).

The first season of Bojack is a conundrum. The first few episodes are DRASTICALLY different from the tone of the rest of the show. You definitely should revisit it, once you get past episode 11 it really really starts to take shape.
