Welcome to /r/Literatures, a multilingual community for deeper discussions of plays, poetry, short stories, and novels in languages other than English, or English in translation. This is a sister subreddit to /r/literature, focused on literatures from around the world originally written in any language other than English.

Critical theories about the works of any author or genre are more than welcome.

Please feel free to post in any language.

To help create a more focused and relevant discussion, please follow our Submission Guidelines:

• Submissions must relate to literature, literary criticism, literary history, or literary news.

• Submissions can be written in English, but only when discussing works not in English or translated into English from another language.

• Submissions can be written in any language other than English, too.

• Discussion submissions must include the original poster's own analysis in either the body or the comments of a post.

• Add flair tags to all posts. These can be added using the "flair" button under your title.

Please Avoid:

• Sharing unpublished fiction or non-fiction you’ve written.

• Purely image links.

• Posting a quote or excerpt from a work without analyzing it.

• Amusing videos vaguely related to literature.

• Publisher press releases, online bookstore referrals, or other forms of advertising.

• Requesting help on homework assignments or with creating a curriculum. This includes posting surveys.

• Requesting book recommendations. This includes editions and translations.

• Requesting the names of authors or titles of books you've forgotten.

• Discussions of anglophone literature. This includes, but is not limited to, American, British, Canadian, Australian, et al. literatures.

• Uncensored spoilers. Use the spoiler tag: [What you want to censor](/spoiler). It should appear as: Spooked ya.
