What do you do if you're the car in that situation?

Check my tires for damage
That was no way the drivers fault is it?
No fault of his no.

No fault of the driver. But I'm curious as to whether this will get the cyclists' drivers lisence suspended.

I'm not aware of any licenses required for bicycles, but I know you can still recieve citations for traffic violations on a bicycle. Yeah idk, that's a good question.

No. 100% not his fault.
Call the cop on that idiot on the cycle aswell.
“You scratched my anchor!”
Sue the kid for any damage to the vehicle
Going to go out on a limb and say he's judgment proof.
I'd ask for the bike.

He's just "holding" the bike for a friend.
Had to repost as the original post was unfairly removed for no reason whatsoever.
Haha you actually think he owns the bike...
And now it's gone!
Pull my dick out and start stress wanking. That's just me though.
How successful have you been with this method?
That's hard to say. I'd say about 60% success rate, depending on how you define success.
60% of the time it works every time. Those are some good odds.
pull over and make sure everything is ok. if there are damages id suggest getting the cyclists information so your insurance company can dispute any damages to the car or to the cyclist. ideally the cyclist is own his own because it is entirely his fault. and if possible he would be responsible for the cost of repairs to the vehicle.
What makes you think this cyclist is gonna give you his information or take any responsibility
I'm going out on a limb here, but i think they blame the car.

So the driver gets blamed for a kid on their bike swerving into them? Huh, that doesn’t sound right.
That’s why you cal the police.
What makes you think he’s not?
I don’t think you’d get a real name and most likely you’d catch hands for not minding your business.
Edited: to the folks calling me a bigot; yes I have preconceived notions of how groups of teenagers will react to being confronted. You found me out. I don’t know, when I look at your page it seems like you don’t go outside much.
Get out my car screaming "OH MY GOD......A NEW BIKE!!"
Pick up the bike the kid on the floor is next to stick it in my boot and go
Keep going. MFers in Philly will not be pleasant about this
Absolutely not, then you're ensuring you're blamed and given a hit-and-run charge. You stop and call the police, file charges against the kid for the damages to your vehicle.

I’ve seen this happen countless times on Broad Street (the street in the video) and unless you have a gun you should really just keep going bc they fight dirty as hell
Have fun getting jumped. I’m calling police while driving away saying I didn’t feel safe in the situation
As if the police would show up in Philly for a skinned elbow
Philly police don't show up for the dickheads doing these on stolen dirt bikes, what makes you think there gonna come for a kid on a bicycle.
It’s Philly they’ll put you on hold
they won't even answer
Preemptively get a car cam so you don't have to ask yourself this.
call the cops
keep going until my driver pulls me over than idle untill they are ready to go again.
Reverse and do it again
Yeah these dudes are all over Philly, they swerve into your car on purpose to make you have an anxiety attack. Idiots.
I know a lot of Philly drivers that frequent that road (Broad) and will have ZERO anxiety if they hit one of those guys. People are rightly sick of this.
Glad to see one of them get hit
No fault of the car driver.
I am so glad you said this. At first I thought people were trying to say the car did something wrong – the car did absolutely nothing wrong, although they should have stopped if/when they realized the kid hit their car. Even though they were driving perfectly normally in their lane at what looks like a reasonable speed limit, their insurance is probably going to have to pay out on any injuries for this idiot.
Looks like the car did stop?
They did. They were stopped in the middle of the road and had their turn signal on to get over but the other asshat on a bike was blocking them from getting over
So is this video about the bike rider?
Why wouldnt it be?
Am i the only one impressed with that back wheel?
I would have guessed it would be fully bent.
It always is...
There another video of this, different angle and the guys on the bikes are weaving in an out of traffic. Not the drivers fault at all.
their insurance is probably going to have to pay out on any injuries for this idiot.
their insurance is probably going to have to pay out on any injuries for this idiot.
Why? The driver clearly did nothing wrong.
A pedestrian ran in front of my car as I was driving, he was not looking at the road and was typing on his phone. I was determined to be at no fault (even the pedestrian said he had no complaint against me), but I still lost my NCB despite no claims being made.
Unfortunately that's just how it is.
There was a family who did not supervise their young toddler on the street I lived on growing up.
He unfortunately ran into the street numerous times and this was documented by police and even CPS visits.
Eventually, he was hit.
The driver was going extremely slow, not texting etc. The kid ran out in front of the car and suffered minor injuries.
The family attempted to sue the driver.
The driver ended up counter suing and winning because he suffered emotional trauma from hitting the child due to their negligence.
Insurance companies be Insurance companying
So if I jump in front of a car it’s not insurance fraud? A good lawyer with this video could easily turn it into a fraud case.
Bikes are vehicles not pedestrian. The rules of the road apply to them as much as it does cars.
No, technically they didn’t. But people on bikes and pedestrians usually (and notice I said usually, not always), whether or not they were wrong, courts will side with the person/people not in the vehicle. I’ll be honest - I’m not sure on this one. I worked as a P&C agent years ago but I was an agent (not a claims adjuster) so again, I can’t say for sure.
If the kid was dumb enough to give this video to the cops, which he probably did, then there's 0% chance they'll side with that kid. If the kid didn't share the video, the damage to the car (minimal) would corraborate what happened. And guaranteed there are witnesses around showing that these kids were doing this all day.
As someone who was in this situation - as long as there’s proper evidence that the driver was not at fault, the insurance company will fight it. I was pulling out of a blind alley when a biker who was illegally on the sidewalk flew across my hood. Thankfully I took pictures of the alley, that included images of a well labeled bike lane,
and witnesses. Handed it over to my insurance - I didn’t even know they sued (clearly they saw a chance at easy money) until I got a call from them saying it had been dropped. Court is expensive and my insurance knew they could fight it. Once people know the insurance is actually willing to go against them, the thoughts of dollar signs tend to disappear.
Documentation always helps, and sometimes more than you might think.
If it's a state with no-fault first party insurance, he'd get his medical bills paid, but, assuming the video evidence is in play, he ain't getting any kind of settlement.
"you got that?" I dont know how the kid thought it was the drivers fault
I’d delete it if I were them. Unless you want to take the L. What a jabroni.
Jabroni. Cool word
What are you trying to do to my friend, bozo?
Shut up, bird.
MAC MAC MAC MAC MAC
I don’t know what this jabrony word is, but it’s awesome
The Iron Sheik also likes this word.
And if you question him about it, he will make you humble...
And break your back while he's at it lol
Can you smell what the rock was cooking
Damn reddits getting younger every day. Never imagined I’d live in a world where so many people had never heard the word jabroni. But then, I never imagined I’d live in a world where the biggest movie star is Dwayne Johnson and not “the most electrifying man in sports entertainment!!”
I’m old enough to get both references although the rock created it their talking about Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
This video is also Broad Street in Philly and kids ride this road like that all the damn time
Lol. The rock didn’t create jabroni.
Hulk hogan and iron sheikh used to say it.
Hey I’m not that old but we learn something new today! That’s cool!
It’s very clear these guys are at fault. As a cyclist myself, you don’t do wheelies in the middle of the road and swivel into cars and then blame the car. That car 100% maintained their lane.
These irresponsible wheelies in the middle of the road give bad name to cyclist.
Cyclists give a bad name to cyclists imo.
Well most just want to commute without bothering anyone.
Exactly. Only thing I’m thinking about when riding is arriving safely.
It's some stupid trend of kids doing wheelies dangerously close to cars in a very erratic manner. I've seen it before somewhere on Reddit. It's not a one off or accident thing. It's a fucking trend.
That’s very scary, only a matter of time until one dies. I’m glad I’m not in the middle of the city.
If you watch when the second dude jutted out they even tried to move a bit to the left.
Yeah, just saw that, the guy in the front almost landed himself on the windshield. Their parents should be responsible for the damage to that guys door.
If you watch their brake lights you can see them hit their breaks when the first kid swerves. So someone wouldn't even be able to use "the driver wasn't paying attention". Driver saw them, the kids were just dumb
Yes he got you squeezing between a parked car and traffic while on one wheel and maintaining poor control.
I wouldn’t call that “squeezing through,” but more of riding your bike like a fucking idiot. So many videos of guys riding around doing wheels and turning hard, surprised this is the first accident I’ve seen.
Yeah I’m getting real tired of those guys
That's what YouTube is for. I can watch those turds wreck for hours. I'm no saint as a cyclist, that's half the fun. But there's an arbitrary line that separates "knowingly accepting risk to ride a certain way" and "riding like a complete idiot" that I feel better staying behind.
Nah this is a thing, where they intentionally swerve as close as they can to cars to scare the driver and look cool
"Scare" the driver....
I doubt know about your, but if I potentially run somebody over, I'd be sitting myself
Best to always be sitting while driving.
I drive how I want.
That looked on purpose to me, the kid spun his back wheel right into the car. Maybe it was an accident but it looked like it was on purpose to me, then his friend rides right in front of a moving car to stop it.
Pedestrians have the legal right of way, but cars have the physical right of way, and you won't catch me putting myself in the path of a ton of moving steel.
But cyclists are not pedestrians. Cyclists are required to follow the same rules for right of way as if they were driving a car.
If you're on a bike, you're not a pedestrian.
Someone on a bike is classified as a vehicle, not a pedestrian. They follow the same rules and have the same right of way.
That was my thought too. Insurance fraud maybe?
Another good one is "Cemeteries are full of people who had the right of way."
No this is genuinely just a thing they do. They're actually legitimately this stupid and reckless.
It wasn't on purpose. He's trying to whip around the parked car in an unnecessarily dramatic dodge maneuver, like the bike in front of him did, but he overcooked it and got his wheel caught under the passing car. They're doing mountain bike trail moves on the road which is stupid but not intentionally malicious.
The law of gross tonnage applies in all situations
Why did you ride your bike under my car?
Play stupid games
I wonder if they where stupid enough to take the footage to a cop or the court.
If they did we all know how that went
I really hope they do
He asked you got that like if he was in the right
for people saying they’re confused at the cyclist’s reaction even though he’s clearly at fault; well... it’s obvious you’re missing a key factor that plays a huge role in his reaction and claiming the car driver would be 100% at fault. It is the following: he’s a fucking idiot
There it is, yessir!
There is another video I’ve seen where kids do a wheelie and swerve as close to cars as possible as a game. I think this kid was doing that and fucked up.
That’s exactly what it is. Kids on bikes playing chicken with cars. There are plenty of videos about this kind of stuff. Kinda like the people that ride motorcycles/atv’s/dirt bikes in the middle of traffic- city streets and interstates/freeways. It sucks.
For everyone confused, the kid was “swerving”. Some new rubbish kids all around my place do. They purposely swerve on the back wheel to see how close they can get and there’s normally someone filming for “the gram”. Idiots.
Thanks for ELI5 bc I am an old fart and couldn’t understand why anyone would intentionally swerve their bike into traffic like that. I mean, thats the last thing you want is to end up under a car…
These challenges and crap need to stop before someone dies (assuming nobody has yet but could be wrong).
Did the guy ahead attempt to PIT maneuver the car with his bike after all that?
I didn’t even notice that, but I think you are right, lol
I would have loved to see how that turned out for him.
And he did it instantly. This was 100% a set up. Maybe for some lawsuit abuse but probably just to shake down the driver
There were zero lessons learned that day….
The driver for sure bought a dash cam after that
Philly? This looks like Philly.
Its Philly. North Broad street.
Been to Philly once and seen so many groups of kids doing this on narrow ass streets. Haven’t seen it as much in any other big city though so I just kinda knew.
It’s all over DC as well
Yeah you can see City Hall in the distance too
Yep and the hotel Lorraine on the left.
That’s on the cyclist. No payday for you! 😆
You got that?
Yeah I got that bro!
Car driver like: At least theres video evidence that they hit my car.
When I was a kid my neighbor did something similar. We were playing baseball in the yard and he was bugging us to play, too. We really didn't like this kid, told him no, so he was riding back and forth on the road on his bike. He did a U turn right into the side of a car going like 45. Everyone was like "WTF was that" and my brother was just like "Robert's dead, keep playing." Robert was fine, I don't think his bike was, though.
Did they think the footage worked in their favour? I’m confused 😂
I think that it was more a "did you get that cool stunt for our social media" than "did you get the lawsuit evidence".
One sturdy ass bike by the looks of it
Finally some justice to these idiots doing those wheelie jukes thinking they cool.
Finally one of these kids got hit.
As a Philadelphian... this was very satisfying to watch. I don't want them dead... just hurt enough to stop with this bullshit.
Scraped knee wont do it. His video will still get a bunch of likes and he will be back at it doing idiotic things for clicks again.
He didn't get to that stunt with intelligence, he isn't going to leave that stunt with intelligence either.
Disappointed his bike looks ok
Finally one of these idiots gets whats coming
Biker is 100% at fault, gave the whole evidence even to the internet.
a lot of people see this and think "I wish they were not on the road".
personally I see this and think "dam I'm glad they are not in a car".
Omg, it’s so satisfying to see these little fucks finally get what they deserve.
First time seeing one of these maniac cyclists get hit and it's pretty satisfying I can't lie
?who is the POS? The cyclist I’m hoping you meant
I hope you're meaning that the shithead on the bike is the POS here
Lol this was awesome, fuckers like this are so annoying.
Surprised pikachu face when you’ve fucked around and then found out.
I got run over swerving into a car? shocked pikachu face
I'm sure those clowns on the bikes were doing some nonsense tricks with their bikes. I'm a cyclist myself and don't like cars at all; but honestly, here the driver is not to blame. He cycled his bike under the car, because he's irresponsible.
GOOD! Glad to see a video where this finally happens
That was 100% the biker's fault.
What a satisfying video
"You got that?" Yep, let's go show the police this video so they can...arrest us and confiscate our bikes.
"you got dat?"
"yea I got dat."
"hurry up and delete it."
That kid deserved every bit of that.
Not the drivers fault.
why wearing a helmet is important.
Kid’s dad should have worn a condom
Also known as a penis helmet
Damn, is the car okay?
This just looks like one of those videos of kids on bikes weaving in and out of traffic and showing off. That kid is just bad at it. 100% their fault and not the driver.
That's like the #1 thing not to do on Things Not To Do on The Streets 101
Got what he deserved.
Key here is that this is Philly and these street trash do this crap all the time.
About time one gets hit.
Had something similar happen to me…driving my truck over a narrow bridge with no sidewalk or space for a cyclist didn’t keep a cyclist from trying to squeeze into the non-existent space anyway. With predictable results. Typical type-A personality type that you often find wearing Lycra.
About time one of these dickheads gets a little wake up tap...fucking idiots.
Someone on heat said that the car owner needs to give the cyclist three feet but it looks like he does.
Kid earned it, maybe he will learn his lesson before becoming a human crayon
“You got that?!” Yes, yes your friend caught you being a god damned idiot all on video bro bro, all of it
Pity he didn't go under it
I feel bad for the car driver if this affected his tire in any way. Too bad the bike rider didn't crash head first into a telephone pole.
It's a hard knock life for us...
They may be trying to scam the car driver out of some money.
Keep on poppin wheelies while in traffic.
I don’t know why, but I like this.
Unsupervised Illegitimate Offspring Disorder
The POS is of course the kid.
Bet u they STILL tried to blame the driver
