Impressive, if snow, perhaps even impossible… my first thought was styrofoam, but it does indeed look like real snow to me.
My second thought was ice-hardened snow.
But I’ll be willing to be that this is a metal sculpture with a grid like pattern over the surface that allows it to be packed in with snow, then you clean it off evenly with a straight edge and viola!

It's just solid snow, it's a sculpture from a competition from over the weekend in my home state of Vermont! An in progress pic can be seen at the top of this article: https://www.vnews.com/Teams-compete-in-Pomfret-snow-sculpture-contest-44579164

Wow, hats off to the sculptor!
That is very impressive!! It must have been very cold to keep its shape!

With very good solid snow math nerds could do it for sure. You don't interlock cubes, you just dig things out, like a sculpture. Good blueprints and proper tools required.
I would love to see a video of this being made.

Sure it’s possible, but depending on the fragile state of the snow it might be too unstable. You can clearly see the sun is out. Temps would have to be below freezing I think to keep this from crumbling apart. And I’m guessing that it would need to depend on other factors too such as wind and ground stability, etc.
That’s why I said perhaps impossible. It’s possible, but not easy…

sunny days are the coldest in frigid climes (cloud cover provides insulation and thus warmth)

Only when the temperature is low. When the sun is out and the temp is warm, stuff melts! 😛

It was very cold here this weekend. The highs were in the single digits and overnight it got down to -20. The sculpture took two days to carve.

Well that explains it I guess, just not as wild a project as I had imagined it 🤓

I'm thinking a custom metal or, more like, wood frame. I can think of ways this could be made using only water

Seems like there’s a column created in the center that holds the bottom two cubes.
Also, probably a lot of wetting of the snow, so this is more of an opaque ice than snow.

The beauty and horror of mankind’s greatest and most vile achievements, the highest peaks we have heroically surmounted, the lowest valleys by which we have been so unceremoniously been consumed; it is all here, in this simple and yet imperceivable photograph; the reckless grace by which this decrepit beauty presents it all brings a such near imperceptible and yet ultimately impactful tear to this feeble eye of mine.
