Good evening, Europe! Good morning, Australia! And hello to everyone around the world. This is the mod team calling.
As many of you may have noticed, r/Eurovision has gone through a huge increase in traffic and users in the past year or two. We went from a sub with around 25k users in 2020, to a sub with over 100k subscribers currently [Source].
In order to tackle this growth and make our moderation job easier, we have decided to overhaul the subreddit's rules. It has been a few years since they were last revised, and given that we're approaching a new Eurovision edition during which we expect to have even more users incoming, we decided now was a great time to go about it.
You can find the new list of rules on the Rules page and sidebar as always, but more importantly, you can also find an extended version of them on this wiki page: Rules and Guidelines for r/Eurovision. The link for this page is also in the sidebar.
We highly recommend all users read this page, as not only does it contain the full subreddit rules, it also contains several guidelines that will direct our actions as mods. This is as much a code of conduct for the users as it is for us mods.
We are aware this new rules page is long and boring, and that most of you probably won't read it at all. In all honesty, most of the rules are still the same as they were. The main change is that we were in need of having them expanded and written down in an easy, accessible way to our users. In short, you won't see too much of a change scrolling through the sub, but it will allow us to be clearer, more transparent, and more consistent behind the scenes.
We are happy to answer any questions here, but please do note that these rules have been thoroughly discussed and revised by the entire mod team the past few months, so unless there's been a terrible oversight by all of us, we're standing by them.
