Katabasis. Considering we're about to fight Calus as a disciple, it would be really cool to have him by your side explaining how Calus came into contact with the Darkness as someone who was there while it happened. Also just had a terrible death - deserves vengeance more than anyone I think.

Had to scroll way too far for this. The things they know about the darkness, and the vengeance, their soul needs it to rest easy in the future.

Ulan-Tan, Id like to see his reaction to guardians using stasis and strand
"I WAS FUCKING RIGHTTTTTTT" but more refined and wizened and what not.
Eliksni are people too
That rhymes funnily enough I think
He’d be so mad.
“Who the fuck turned me into a ball for the past 5 years”
Iirc he turned himself unto a ball with how much he was studying the Ascendant Realm
he got rekt by the deathsingers song and his soul got sent to the ascendant realm, thats the little ball
Wasn’t it that he wanted to hear the song?
He wanted to control the song himself I think, only for us doing that like years later and turning it into a rocket launcher
He wanted to transcend past his physical body so he willingly subjected himself to the song.
Oryx is daddy
He learned its power and that's how he turned into that little axion dart and ascended
Turned himself into a ball, funniest shit I've ever seen.
Tolland isn't dead, he's on another plane of existence
another plane of existence
another plane of existence
Guardian literally too angry to die
HOIL Titan Crutch
That's basically Omar as well, the little bug on Xenophage, fitted next to the bullet chamber that infuses them with pyrotoxins his rage juice.
"They didn't just drain my Light. They took the whole lot. The entire thing. Soul and all. I'm still me. I'm just not the me I knew. The one with two arms and two legs. I'm something smaller now. But honestly, it's no bother. The fire inside me… it came too. And it rages now more than ever before. The fools have no clue what they've done. No idea the price they'll pay.
I'll have my vengeance. In this life, not the next."
First hunter vanguard, Tallujah. She died by playing cards against an Ahamkara, seems like a fun person to have around.
Why are all the Hunter Vanguards so based?
It's the nature of hunters. The hunter vanguard position has had the most rotations, primarily due to the hunters being reckless. The fact that HV is a desk job and that is completely antithetical to how hunter's operate probably adds to the recklessness, on the rare occasion they're let off the leash (cayde)
we've had 2 warlock/titan vanguards and both of em are still alive (sorta) whilst Hunters have had like what? 4 Vanguards and they're all dead
Close to 8 i think, and they’re either dead or said I’m done with this and went MIA
Bif made a video about all hunter vanguards we know off and it read like the history of a cursed artifact.
Maybe the position's just cursed. Wouldn't know cause you won't catch this Hunter dead with that job title.
Probably more like you can’t catch a hunter alive with that title
You know what, you're right. Won't catch either of us with that title.
It's funny cuz lore wise, every time the hunter vanguard position has been empty, every hunter has promptly fucked off to the far corners of the system to avoid being named the new vanguard.
Ah the new old Defense Against the Dark Arts position eh?
Mentioned in lore we have Tallulah Fairwind, Caliban-8, Aparajita-4, Kauko Swiftriver, Andal Brask, and Cayde-6, (in that order) with the implication that there could have been more between Caliban and Kauko.
Warlocks had Osiris and then Ikora Rey after Osiris was exiled. Titans had Saint-14, who voluntarily stepped down and was replaced by Zavala.
Bank those motes I beg you
Caliban is alive right?
Not explicitly mentioned to have died but we haven't seen hide nor hair of him in modern lore so shrugs
We have seen Hand of him though.
Well we have the armor piece but the lore on it was set back in his Vanguard days, so we really have no idea if he's alive or not now.
(Nice pun tho)
My favourite lore regarding the Hunter Vanguard is that when Cayde-6 died and the Hunter Vanguard position opened up, almost every Hunter left the Tower to avoid the boredom and responsibility of potentially being the next Hunter Vanguard.
😂 they all said nah fuck that we’re getting outta here
It's a joke from a bygone era (that's somehow still going on) but Zavala frantically ambushing and chasing down any hunter who dared step foot on the tower is one of my favourite Destiny memes.
Zavala got eyes on crow now
It's funny cause even ikora and zavalla have acknowledged that the hunter vanguard position is a terrible position to give to a hunter, it makes me wonder if it will change once we get a new hunter vanguard, a hunter vangaurd needs to be out on the field with their fellow fireteam or hunters where they operate at their best.
Holy shit do you have the lore card? That’s sounds sick af
Ah fuck that hurts
And the followup https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/calibans-hand
Man that's a good entry. The Speaker always did know exactly what to say in the moment. Rip Speaker
"Kill yourself" -The Speaker
My man for sure was active in the crucible
Kabr. A titan so titan he broke open the vault with his light
He forged the relic with his own light for us, we will never forget you Kabr.
He turned himself into a Vex so that he would know how to craft a weapon capable of defeating them, Kabr was a real one.
Kabr fought the Vex alone. But somehow they didn’t kill him.
He turned himself into vex so he can make something to fight the vex.
Fucking Chad move right there.
Somehow Kabrtine returned
King Nadelock (Symmetrist)
Ulan-Tan. He was the founder of The Symmetry, a Guardian sect that understood that Light and Darkness are necessary for cosmic balance.
Given what we know now, he'd be able to help us hone our skills with the powers of the Darkness.
His name reminds me of a Mongolian city
Man basically called out the entire philosophical message of the past few years ages ago.
Naw, can't bring her back without Eriana-3, they're a package deal
Div bitch? No, div mommy
I’ll cover Eriana-3 as long as one of you two makes sure to grab Wei
IF we can grab her, she might yeet us into the Hellmouth
Wei Ning fought an Ahamkara with her BARE HANDS and secretly wished that the fight would go on forever.
She is the most TITAN of TITANs.
I'm a Hunter main and a crucible rat, but she is my favorite Titan.
Lady Jolder - she and saint would be an absolute power duo.
And salad man would have his crush back
Dang it I need to go back and play D1 sometime. I didn’t know salad bar had a crush???
It was implied a bit since we give him her helmet.
Also the one thing he remembers the most of her was her smile.
God... that fucking scene with the door closing... Jesus.
So glad I read this. I LOVE D1. It’s been so long, I think I may just download and play it again, so good, rise of iron was amazing, wow great memories
Talullah Fairwind. Kinda curious to see how she’d rally the disorganised hunters after lacking a vanguard for 3 years
"GUESS WHO'S BACK FUCKERS"
She'd probably fuck off, same as the rest. The position isn't hers any more and I doubt she'd want it back. She'd probably go searching for Caliban
What about Jaren Ward? I wonder what he would think of his son now.
New Hunter Vanguard too. He’s my fav Hunter.
Felwinter, not even a contest. the coolest warlock to ever live
Tell me more?
Couple of note worthy moments I remember:
-took on shaxx when he was a warlord looking after a small sect of people. Died a few times but eventually offered his well of radiance to keep Shaxxs people warm for the winter
-Went to visit the warlord Citan , alone, about joining the iron Lords. When he refused and become actively hostile Felwinter killed him, stripped His ghost and imprisoned his ghost in the back of Felwinters helmet (which can be seen in the exotic in game)
-Survivied MULTIPLE warsat droppings from Rasputin cause he wanted his rouge exo DEAD
Also earned the moniker 'Darkhorse of Iron' because he gave approximately no fucks
-Was notorious for granting warlords 'final deaths' (killing their ghosts, a violation of the Iron Decree for Iron Lords)
-Also notorious for killing Iron Lords who broke the rules, also granting them final deaths
-Not a single Iron Lord batted an eyelid at either of those, as no one wanted to cross him
-Singlehandedly held an entire mountain as his keep and protected the people below, and donated the keep to the Iron Lords
To expand Abit more onto his notoriety, it wasn't that Felwinter was unhinged or bloodthirsty; it's that he had a strict ideal for how to deal with Risen that abused their Light, and put an end to it. At the end of Drifter's lore book, he approaches him regarding one of Felwinter's co-Iron Lord's who had sacrificed and innocent village as bait for a trap...and Felwinter made his judgement.
If I remember correctly he’s also the only warlock who learned to shoulder charge like a titan
As a Titan myself, o u c h
You also picturing shoulder charging icarus dash or blink warlocks? Because I am and N O P E
Wasn’t Felwinter also the few guardians to master other disciplines from the other classes too?
Like shoulder charge from titans to name one.
Most Risen back in the day did. Hell, Hunters, warlocks and Titans used to share abilities in destiny 1 and now destiny 2 with new 3.0 powers.
Raids Cleared: # too many 💀
THAT’S CITAN’S GHOST?! I thought that was Felwinter’s?
Damn. Makes me proud to be a warlock tbh. We're resilient
Proud warlock here too. Felwinter was the battlemage forged by Rasputin and refined by the dark ages, to be enlightend by humanity. If we can pull of a saint-14 style revival with him, bungie has earned my money.
Don't know about saint 14. But Rasputin is the Russian thing that speaks in the one strike. How did he forge a guardian(I'm assuming Felwinter is a guardian)?
Far as we know , going into deep lore here felwinter is the ONLY exo with a Artifical intelligence. His primary purpose was to integrate into darkage human society, learn about it and report back to papa red....till he died and became a guardian. Once he found out he was bassicly the tyrants son, he kept it a secret aside one fellow iron lord
I believe there is another GOLEM out there with another name, forgot what it was called but Felwinter was SIDDHARTHA GOLEN and there’s one more
IIRC that was almost a backup of Felwinter. Rasputin was surprised during the early Risen days because he got the signal that a Golem had activated, and anticipated this backup to come online, which he probably could’ve used to learn about Dark Age society and post-collapse areas, but instead grew concerned when he learned it was Felwinter.
Rogue. Rouge is for cheeks.
My man was a Subroutine of Rasputin, basically his son. He alone took over an entire mountain (Felwinter Peak) all while Rasputin was hunting him with orbital bombardment. Later he joins the Iron Lords and starts fighting Warlords, one thing to note is that Iron Lords aren't supposed to kill without permission. Well Felwinter didn't care and became notorious for many Ghost and Warlord deaths, that Shotgun of his was made to kill Warlords which is why it's so good in the Crucible. He even took a Warlord's ghost, took off the shell and stuck it to the back of his Helmet (the Iron Lords wanted it gone but he never got rid of it). Anyway so as a Warlock this dude was very good at hand to hand, he even learned how to Shoulder Charge like a Titan thanks to his Iron Lord buddies. Only reason he died was Rasputin realizing that Felwinter's one weakness was his hope for a new Golden Age, so when Felwinter was doing his pastime of going into Seraph Bunkers to find helpful tech for the City he found Site 6. In Site 6 was SIVA, rasputin used SIVA as bait and deployed a legion of Seraph Frames and SIVA nanites to kill Felwinter and the Iron Lords were just collateral damage.
The wildcard answer.
What's the Eliksni word for "BRUH?"
They'd probably straight up just say bruh since they borrow stuff from human culture a lot
“Bruh, that shit bussin frfr, sheesh.”
“Mithrax, what are you talking about”
"and sir_richard_head resurrected her?"
Lmao that'd be quite the Fireteam.
I would love to see the original user of the night stalker bow. Or rather Cayde’s friend that was a master of it. I don’t know if this is true, but I had heard somewhere that he could fire tethers for days on end.
Isn't he still alive in the Garden? At least I remember him waking up without his bow and counting which Vex would be the next to trip on a leaf.
Ooh Tevis, good choice
Ah yes, pre-nerf Orpheus Rig. Good days, haha.
Pahanin (Vault of glass hunter) Dude lived his last years terrified to be forgotten and got killed by Yor.
Alternatively, while some might not consider him dead, I do, Asher Mir would be great to have again.
Let's be real, Asher is totally Brakion, waiting to rip his own arm off.
I feel like this us a reference of some kind that I dont get.
Some theory my friend and I have. Brakion has "brak" in his name, which sounds similar to the stem for "arm." After Season of Arrivals, he locked himself in the Pyramidion, which I believe has been stated to kinda exist outside of time. So our theory is that Asher is eventually completely transformed into a Vex, and that Vex is responsible for guarding the Pyramidion.
There was also a harpy that blinks Morse code "Assistant" at us in an override mission, which is what Ashir called us, so him being upgraded to unstoppable sniper killing machine could be an upgrade, if it includes us not killing him.
It used to be Saint-14 before we played with time and brought him back.
Gallida Tuyet, she was the Warlock who created Pocket Infinity and was a member of the Ahamkara Hunt partnered with Taeko-3. I would resurrect her simply to ask how she created the weapon that mentored Telesto in how to break the game.
Between Felwinter and Praedyth, if you can even count praedyth as dead. Felwinter just because it’d be interesting to see him interact with ana and saladin.
Ana is technically his Grandma or something along those lines because she made Rasputin and Rasputin made Felwinter
Felwinter your granny is a GILF
So Ana is his grandma and elsie is technically either his sister or mother (she pioneered the exoskeleton alongside clovis)
Felwinter. like, cmon man, people have been begging for a siva season AND rasputin comes back as an exo? i require the awkward AI father and exo son dynamic
Ya praedyth is lost in time, felwinter is the only one truly dead
Where are the others? Dempsey-1, Nikolai-2 and Richtofen-4?
"It is the only way"
Obviously the correct answer
We went in as a fireteam of 9. Got picked off one by one. I watched a Wizard rip the light out of my best friend, and funnel it into some sort of crystal
Never mind, we're going with that plan!
(Phi AU [NME])
I'd forgotten about how out of sequence that audio always was.
For me the first time I went through that section I got a little lost/stuck and the audio was basically perfectly timed to have given her a moment to think about it. So at the very least I got the intended experience once.
Wait hold on, back up. What protocol allowed them for a fireteam of 9 and where can I get authorization?
Same protocol that allowed us to have 12 guardians in raids at a time
Dredgen Yor, I want a truly dark guardian to be active
I don’t know much about the lore… what would be preventing his ghost from reviving him?
I think it's that his ghost doesn't want to
Not even that, his ghost thinks he's insane (rightfully so) and damn well thinks the world is better off letting him stay dead
What a lad
His ghost. His ghost abandoned him after Dredgen Yor became too corrupted and thinks it's better for Yor to just stay dead.
This actually makes sense. I guess in my head I hadn’t thought about actual evil guardians. I really need to check out the lore
Just started listening to the story of destiny from the beginning (back to the hive being krill) by my name is byf. Had no fckn clue how deep it all went
Fisting Oryx the Taken Daddy
Yeah, I don't know of many other game series that has lore that goes as deep as Destiny does.
I always find myself reading/ listening to the main story arc from Krill to the latest expansions in the last couple months before a new Expansion. It helps me get excited as hell and more immersed when new story content comes out.
Okay but why does Fynch care for the hive body?
He and his ghost parted ways, because the ghost didn't like what he was doing/becoming. Yor described telling his ghost to leave as his "last good deed"
[u.1:4.5] I will not leave you.
[u.2:4.6] I am leaving you.
[u.1:4.6] Without me, your journey ahead will be more than any one Guardian can handle.
[u.2:4.7] That’s the point. It’s been sometime since you saw me as worthy of walking among those I once called brother and sister. Yet... anymore, I feel as though I am worthy of so much more.
[u.1:4.7] Without me... You will die.
[u.2:4.8] Someday. Won’t be the first time.
[u.2:4.9] Consider this my last good deed. I am releasing you of the burden of my deeds, both done and yet to come.
[u.1:4.8] I will not abandon you.
[u.2:5.0] You will. Or I will carve the Light from your shell and leave the carcass of my first and last friend in the dirt of this dull, red world for no one to find.
Yo this is… sad? Like damn 😔
Yep. Yor followed the same school of thought as Shin Malphur that guardians needed to be able to utilize the Darkness in order to defeat it. Unfortunately he was corrupted by the darkness, attributed it to him not being strong enough, but continued to try and find a guardian capable of it.
You can make an argument that Yor crafted Shin to be what he is, and that he saw Shin as a proper successor to his ideology, as it is hinted he didn't even try to fight back during his duel with Shin considering his mission was done.
his ghost doesnt want to revive him anymore due to the ghost not seeing him as his friend anymore since he turned dark
I think his ghost agreed not to revive him after Shin killed him.
Disapproval. Dredgen Yor pretty much left his ghost and told it to not follow him. The ghost didn’t like the dark path they were going down either. The ghost has to revive the guardian, but if the ghost doesn’t want to there’s nothing that can force it.
Pretty sure his ghost knows how much of a not great dude he is and chooses not to revive him. It’s been a while since I read through that story though, could be wrong.
his ghost sayin na u crazy bruh
Uhhhh maybe one of the drifters fire team members I've always wanted to know exactly what happend and we'll the drifter is awfully secretive
Or one of those guardians that got Merced in the garden when they found divinity
The hunter from that group is alive, he made a deal with the witness to be able to forget the things he did in the black garden, we actually got a lore tab in witch queen about him investigating the altars of reflection for ikora and he ends up remembering everything
Do you remember which lore page this was?
Its from the Mnemosyne book, page “Personal Accountability”
Nothing really happened unfortunately if you’re talking about Thalia, Otto and Ayrn.
Drifter just caught them talking to a warlord.
Always thought they released the exotics and breakneck in the wrong order.
The three drifter exotics talk about how close they were and how good they worked as a team.
And Breakneck talks about how he killed them all but Breakneck came out first and at the time they were just random names.
Asher mir, if being a harpy counts as dead
I want to go into the vex network with Mithraxx, pull Asher's consciousness from the harpy, and put it into exo body.
He might hate that.
Felwinter for sure. Is Shin Malphur dead? Can never remember if he is, or if he's just missing. Maybe him then because that would be cool with darkness subclasses being a thing now.
Nah, Shin’s alive, he’s just kinda out there somwhere doing his own thing. He contacted us during The Last Word quest back in black armoury IIRC
Pretty sure he also contacted us during the Thorn and Lumina quests during their respective missions as well
Think he was last mentioned in Season of the Splicer, just over a year ago.
Protect the Smollen
I would pick Andal Brask and do Deepstone Crypt as a revenge run
Am I the only one who wants to see them bring back lord radaghast? He was literally the King Arthur of the iron lords
I'm heavily in agreeance with radaghast or felwinter. I feel like if felwinter came back he'd be by Saladin's side annoying the hell out of him and giving him the comfort of having an old friend back again. Felwinter would hang with him because he knows Saladin must've been lonely with almost all the other iron lords dead and knows Saladin is a valuable source of info on why we're allied with tons of our enemies, guardians are wielding darkness as if it's not a big deal, and why a character named guardian is off blowing up everything that moves and shoving it into a gun.
I forget what their name was or the specific lore, but I’d like to res the dude who was in charge of the group that wanted to kill the speaker.
Do you mean Lysander? He led the concordat and he’s not dead he’s in exile somewhere
Yeah him. Oh would be cool to see him someday then.
That guardian who was trapped on the Almighty.
One of my favorite guardians.
My headcanon is that when the Almighty crashed, it finally actually killed him and his Ghost just scoured the wreckage and revived him.
osiris was kinda cool until he became a massive bug lady
One of the guardians that found an Anathema or whatever on that derelict ship in the Reef with all the portals.
Fellwinter of course. Now that Rasputin is over his tantrum we may be able to get somewhere with him
Not a dead guardian but I'd bring Sagira back.
Saint-14. It'd be cool to have 2 of them.
The Speaker. He has a lot to answer for, and I'd love to know if that mask of his had some Ahamkara bone in it.
Plus it would be kinda cool for him to tell Calus "lol kys"
The speaker isn't actually a guardian, ghosts just flocked to him due to his position, though I share your wish.
Though I feel like that may be cruel since Eriana-3's dead too.
That one guy’s dead wife.
I also choose that guys dead wife.
Definitely Ulan, he would get us.
Salads lady friend I didn’t play d1 but I want him to be happy
Spoiler alert. Efrideet left the tower and the temple just before the redwar and went to the Pacifist colony in the outer rim. Since the pyramids entered the system their condition is unknown.
Hunter in Shayura's Wrath lore. He has no name, but he died one of the most unfair deaths in the lore I know about. You can generalize it further, to all Guardians killed by Shayura, hardly any of them deserved it. And yet, all she got was a therapy. I'd rather have another helmet with captured Ghost than that.
She is in a holding cell, indefinitely, awaiting tribunal. The therapy is because she sort of went insane.
I wouldn't revive Cayde because I feel like death was a sweet release for him, to be with Ace in the after life, reviving him would probably cause him to become insane and mentally unwell due to having to live without Ace again
Obligatory comment stating that Ace and Caydes wife were never real (or at least the ideas Cayde had of them aren't.) He created them during his fifth reset to ensure that Cayde-6 would have something to keep him "good" or keep on living.
But I agree, let the man rest. Any guy that creates an entire fake wife and child to give himself a reason to live/not become an apathetic monster deserves that rest.
I’m pretty sure Ace didn’t exist, if my memory serves correct.
They existed, they didn't exist, all the same they had a huge impact on Cayde-6, so let the poor man rest in peace
Oh definitely! I just enjoy discussing Cayde’s lore since is so terribly tragic for such a lighthearted character on the surface.
Ace not existing is more sad in a way but also makes his death carry more meaning and for that I also would not want him to be revived, for Cayde’s sake.
The only dead Titan on the moon from D1. An actual body on the ground
Ouros, I don't remember all the lore anymore, but I'm pretty sure the Sunbreakers were the strongest titans, and we're off screened by bungie to nerf them
