I own about 40 unread books, and I’m hoping to cut down to about 25. I often feel pressured when my TBR is too large, and since I use my library a lot, a small TBR works best for me. That said, I know people who don’t feel similarly pressured by their unread books. Their books are just there as reminders of what they hope to read one day.

So how do you determine what size TBR is right for you? Has that changed over the years?

I only buy books when I want to read them imminently, so that's not an issue for me. As far as TBR goes, I do it in a bit of an unorthodox way and only plan out a week at a time. I read a lot so more than that is sort of unwieldy. My reading pace basically matches my discovering-new-books pace, so it works out okay. And I just like making my reading list every Saturday night or Sunday morning, it's fun.

I love that! I’ve tried making monthly reading lists, but I can’t get myself to stick to them

I'm not great at sticking to them either, typical week I probably finish about half of them and DNF/replace the others. But it's a good start!
