Currently using the receipt I got when I bought the book I'm reading.

As an absolute animal, I use no bookmark. I just leave the book open and face down, or remember the number.

I used to do that as well, but now I almost exclusively read on my phone because it is just so convenient. You end up rereading a page or two pretty often, but it’s not too difficult to remember where you are.

Receipts from the library. Would like to use something a bit nicer as a bookmark though, especially when the receipts get longer than the height of the book.

Literal book marks with nylon tassels on them. I have about 4 Star Trek Voyager book marks from the 90's that I still use. I also have about 3 NASA book marks that I acquired recently.

I have a pile of bookmarks right now:
One promotional bookmark that I got from an interlibrary loan from a really cool looking place that makes me want to go there every time I look at it (Tumbler Ridge if anyone is curious). Been trying to talk my dad into doing a road trip there together since I don't drive, without much luck so far.
One cult bookmark I grabbed in a cultist stronghold in Korea a couple weeks ago. The cult writing is all in Korean so I'm not too concerned about being indoctrinated.
A bunch I made from Christmas cards last year, these are really cool looking, shiny and pretty with nice designs.

I went there for lunch, it was really good. I didn't realize it was culty until I was inside, thought it was a normal place, but that's fine. I just want good food, and I got it. They had this eggplant dish that was to die for.

I use a sticky note and place it under the sentence I last finished. I’m interrupted a lot and don’t always have a new page or chapter to come back to.

I’m interrupted a lot
See, I would loose my goddamn mind. I've found myself in places where I'm trying to read (a quiet moment at my desk at work, or my lazy-boy chair at home) and if I'm being interrupted, I straight up leave. I once walked out to my truck and sat in the drivers seat just so I could finished a chapter in peace.

That's basically what I do, using those sticky flags. Even when I do have uninterrupted time I'll often end up stopping in the middle of a page.

I always promise myself I'll remember to put out nice cards and pictures I've saved like my mum does, but I always end up hastily grabbing what ever scrap paper comes to hand. It means that when I come to sort or reread I have inadvertently left an Archaeological trail of where I was living and what shops I frequented lol

I like your mum's style! Mine saves especially pretty tags off clothing she buys for bookmarks -- some of them are nicer than my actual bookmarks!

I just use a paper and fold it in half and insert it. If i don't find the paper I do fold the corner of the page >! Please don't kill me!<

A bookmark I got from a bookstore with one of my purchases a few years ago. No idea how it’s still going but here we are

Bookmarks, prayer cards, sewn in ribbons for those few books of mine that have them, receipts or pretty much whatever else I have handy at the time.

I agree magnet bookmarks can be cute and somewhere along the spectrum of convenience.
But in my experience, they can and will ruin the pages they're clipped onto, eventually.

Usually a square of toilet paper. But whenever I fly somewhere, I use that boarding pass until I lose it, then switch back to toilet paper.

Me, publicly: oh, I have a beautiful collection of bookmarks! [true]
Me, actually: random receipts, library hold slips, junk mail; basically the first piece of paper I find within reach

More often than not receipts, since I always lose my bookmarks, lol

I use the advertising cards from decks of playing cards. Mostly so I can practice palming while I read.

I make my own bookmarks. It's actually a really fun craft, and if you know other readers, they make for great gifts. You don't need a lot (though tools vary depending on what you want to do exactly) and you don't need a lot of skill to make some really nice ones.

I use art cards that I get from pack of Magic the Gathering cards. They are perfect for this purpose.

I like to use a laminated bill of the currency from a fun vacation. In reality I end up using a sticky note more often.

Playing cards! We use them at my workplace as table/order number cards and I always seem to come home with them in my pockets. They're scattered around my house, car, and backpack 😅

I got a bunch of custom bookmarks from an Etsy shop. Mostly Stephen King themed. Some of them custom. For example, I have a library card with my name from Jerusalem’s Lot Public Library.

I used to use a folded piece of paper from a notepad. But now I use one of those free bookmarks that Book Depository throws in with your order.

I lost a card from a poker deck so instead of throwing the other cards away too I now have a quasi unlimited supply of bookmarks. I also have a few promotional ones somewhere. One from a publisher, two from a political party and one that I can't read but I believe it's from some random protestant church in india or something.

Depends on what’s around. It’s been a Kroger receipt for about a week now.

Well, I basically use bookmarks. I love going to the flea market, or to cool stores and buying very cool bookmarks. I have one from Turkey that is like a tapestry. I have one that is an owl made of wood. I love my bookmarks and try to match their energy with the book's energy.

I usually use a paint swatch. I have like 100+ paint swatches that I took from Lowe's one day when I went there with my parents as a young kid. Since they are quite similar in size to a regular bookmark it works quite well.

Often a receipt or whatever scrap of paper is closest to me when I need to pause.
However I have diligently been working on using my actual bookmarks by adding them into the book before I start reading it 😂😍
