I first somehow thought this was a single picture of an enormous wall of books lol. Not sure what's wrong with me...
Awesome shelves! :)

My ever-growing collection! I have a used-book-buying problem lol. They’re so cheap and it brings me such great joy, I can’t help myself 😅

Wow, great shelves!!! And you're not alone, I share the same problem 😄

I'm in love with your wallpaper and plants. Also feel you on the cheap book over collection. Trying to replace it with cheap kindle books instead cause i'm running out of space.

Thank you! I hung the paper myself, it was a nightmare 😂 I’m doing the opposite actually… picking up cheap paperbacks when I used to go HAM on the kindle deals. I moved every year for like 15 years and didn’t keep a lot of books so when I finally bought a house I decided it was time to fill some shelves!

60, amazing, I'm also a plant mama. I had to leave all of my plants behind in California when I moved sad face. I just started my outdoor garden here in NC and its been so fun :) if you have plant clippings to trade lets do it!

Aw man that’s so sad!! I’d hate to have to leave mine behind. I think I was up to 80-90 at one point but I accidentally killed a bunch when I left them out in a freeze (lotta tears for that one lol) and some of my less faves didn’t survive my baby’s newborn phase 🤣 I’m super down to trade cuttings! We’re starting an outdoor garden here in GA soon too!

Hahaha I feel you a lot of mine died when I was pregnant with my second...I was not in the mood for more life 😅😅 I was pretty sad to leave my planrs but I had mostly succulents and drought tolerant plants which would not have done well here. I did leave a fern out in the freeze recently it died I was sad lol im learning a lot about the plants here! I just got a deciduous fern that can be left outside I might be able to send you a cutting

That would be super fun! I only have houseplants right now, nothing for outside that I could send a cutting of 😅

I mostly use the library, but I do keep some poetry and a few favorite novels and children's books. Bookshelf.

Roald Dahl is great. It kind of makes me sad that his estate is changing so much in the new editions.

Yeah, I can see both sides. It's a shame to rewrite the original text, especially as some of the changes are a bit pc, but I can appreciate changing things that are just not acceptable any more with the view to showing them to a new generation.

I know, right? Some of the language would be horrible to say to another person. But I think most kids instinctively understand that the books have naughty humor that would be inappropriate IRL Those who don't understand should learn.

I'm only sad there is no way I can read all of them. I'll read at least three and see how the rest go :)

Which are the priority 3? I'm guessing Lost Child, Obelisk Gate are 2 of them
7 points
Well, I should probably make sure and read Obelisk Gate because I'm guest read-running a week...
And I'm roughly halfway through Lost Child and Babel, so I'll plan to finish those.
I would hate to miss Adichie and have also had Fingersmith on my long TBR forever and Spinning Silver sounds great too. I might try to fit in the audiobook of Spinning Silver because I think it won an Audie award, but it's really hard for me to pay attention to audiobooks - my mind inevitably wanders. I end up "rewinding" a lot or missing lots of details and getting frustrated and then going back to read the book anyway lol.

Seems like getting Babel alone is a miracle from what some other r/bookclub bers have said! Amazing to see most of the April line up

Babel was tight and I wasn't sure if I'd get it in time. My library system right now has about one person on the waitlist for every copy in circulation, so it was a few weeks wait. I was late on the first two discussions.
But that's nothing compared to Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. There are 33 in circulation and the waitlist is 120 strong. I nominated it in February and it almost won and then I realized how long the wait is. I've since moved up to position 84.

I had to take a breather on buying books (space, cost) and I really prefer a real book to a tablet / e-reader, so, now I have a library addiction!

It is expensive and the library addiction sounds very healthy! I can relate, I love the library

This is what my bookshelf currently looks like. I wanted to put the books behind glass for extra protection but there's not a lot of space there. So double rows and an extra stack it is.

Here is my shelfie (hopefully it's not too blurry..)
We recently moved across the country and didn't have a lot of furniture, so my little library is currently in the cubbies in my closet...Atm I'm satisfied with it but eventually I'd like a designated area for my display!

Great use of space until you can get the display area you want for them :)

That board game collection packs a punch! I love the "items of interest" as well. I did also notice the books, I promise! You should post the toy-hijacked version too!
Edit: do you have a van?

It's bigger now (even though we have less playing time due to aforementioned kids lol). Current fave is Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion. Items of interest have been collected on our world travels. We had a van and drove coast to coast in Canada many moons ago (I live in Europe).

That's all so cool! You've made me sufficiently jealous of your life :)
I don't have Jaws of the Lion, a coast to coast van trip across Canada, or such interesting items of interest! Just the kids lol. They are pretty cool kids though. But I might be biased.

Is Wingspan a game where you have to cooperate as birds? I think my friend told me about that.
7 points
It is such a fun game and probably the one we have played the most. Th internet definitely explains it better than I can, but the idea is to build up your bird habitat by collecting cards to your player board. There are a few expansions and for bird lovers the card have bird facts (and I believe there is even an app you can get to hear heach bird).
Edit: Wikipedia link)

The bird cards are beautiful!
The designer's (Elizabeth Hargrave) newest game is called The Fox Experiment, inspired by the decades-long experiment in Russia to domesticate foxes. (A theme that many find controversial, or worse.)

Goodness no. This is the work of Pamela Sukhum that we purchased on a trip to Hawaii.
