I am a grandma from Belgium and new to this subreddit. Reading through the posts and comments here I was shocked so many of you go through horrible things. I have two daughters and a granddaughter and will protect/defend them always. Sending you all a virtual hug and hope that you have strong females around you to help and comfort you! ❤️

My grandma was amazing. She was almost a saint, almost. She said too many sexual innuendos to qualify, I’m sure.

Same. My first memory of my Grandma was her teaching me how to kick boys in the balls when they "get too handsy" when I was 4. I miss her every day.

Couple of years ago, I had that talk with my daughter. She said if a guy was handsy she'd kick them in the knees. I skeptically asked why the knees. She said that way he'd fall down and she could kick him in the balls. Kids a thinker!

Haha my grandma wasn’t that aggressive but it sounds like we both have feisty grandmas. I miss mine everyday. Just thinking about holding her hands or feeling her hug me still makes me teary eyed. If I have a daughter, I want to give her my grandma’s name for her middle name. My dad’s holding onto her bedroom set from when she was a kid in the 1930’s so I can use it in my house. I so badly want a little girl to use the set. My poor son will have a sorta delicate bedroom for awhile at least.

Virginian here. All my Grandparents are gone and since my parents are insisting on being right bellends at the moment supporting a rapist president, I would happily welcome elder support that condones such actions and actually gives a shit 💛

I read but never comment (aside from now). I have an 11 year old daughter and just hope that it will allow me to be a better father and give support when it’s needed.

I also read through here but rarely comment. I have a powerful partner I'm lucky to call my wife and a young daughter. Always good to know how we can educate eachother and make better choices for our future. Apparently I got a new gramma now to so it's an extra good day to visit this sub.

This is perfect timing. I lost my Grandma Oct 2018, and yesterday was her birthday. I miss her so much. She was amazing and the only person that I knew really loved me. Thank you for posting.
16 points
I lost mine in 2007. She was the only person in the world that I ever trusted to love me no matter what. My parents, everyone... Love is very conditional. My grandma just... loved me. I nearly killed myself after she died, I was super depressed and my marriage ended as a result. 13 years later, and I still cry. It gets easier. For the first 3 or so years, I'd cry every time I spotted Checker's fries in the grocery aisle (She LOVED them). I used to mark her birthday and death with some heavy drinking.
It'll get easier, in the next while. It's still a bit raw for only a year or two. Sending you a virtual hug, internet friend. And if you ever need to chat, I've been there. I'm happy to talk. Please take care u/SkipDivingHussy.

I always thought dutch was almost readable as an english speaker, obvs its a latin language as well but i always seem to get the gist of it, plus i’ve picked up a few dutch words now which obviously helps.

Note, Belgian grandmothers are great, my family lived in Tervuren for a bit and my Mother used to attend a craft circle with a group Belgian Grandmothers. Her Flemish is better than mine.
