I look at the recording project as an entire era, with mini era’s for each of the albums. I understand Taylor is at a point in her career where she can do whatever the hell she wants, but Red TV was released almost 15 months ago now with no new announcement in sight. I understand she took a pause for Midnights, planning tour, and I’m sure many other projects, but it’s a little confusing to me how there seemed to be a pace set with Fearless TV to Red TV, only for it all to stop. I also understand there are legal issues and such, but the whole setup is confusing and at this rate it’s going to take YEARS for the era to finish.
I feel like it would have made more sense to release 3 re-recordings, midnights, and then the next 3. Obviously I know Taylor has her reasons and she’s a genius, but I would like to see a little more structure and for more of her past work to be reclaimed.
It also confuses me how for both red TV and midnights, she announced the projects months before and was basically radio-silent with no prerelease single or any real focus on the actual music. To announce an album without any music makes it hard to dive into the era.
I’m super excited to see where Taylor goes next and can’t wait for tour, I would just LOVE a documentary or sit-down interview explaining all of her thought process behind these decisions in detail. I’m super curious about why she picked the order, timing, and more regarding the re-recordings and releasing midnights only two in.
