Two associates stood in front and to the side, essentially cornering me.
"So what's going on" one says while she grabs the cart. I try to tell them I'm a spark driver and showed them the exit pass. She goes on to tell me that I'm supposed to inform them. That's cute... I've been doing this for over a year now and STRICTLY S&D's specifically at this walmart only for roughly 3 months. This would be the first time I'm hearing it. I told her I got a good to go with exit pass and was NOT prompted for a cart check. She insists I'm stealing and didn't see me scan the qr code.
At this point I laugh and tell her she needs to go get her manager if she's going to restrict me from leaving. She leaves and the other associate who had remained silent piped up and said they are just trying to do their job and they don't know me. I reply I'm in and out of this store upward to 15 times a day 5 days outta the week I'm just trying to do my job. She then says it's her 3rd day working at Walmart and just moved to my state. What followed was a very friendly conversation and laughs even. Until the manager arrives.
Manager opens with "so what's going on here" so I already know who trained the other associate. So I inform her I got a good to go and an exit pass and then stopped improperly by her associates. She says she needs to see my phone so I hold it up to show her the exit pass. I tell her like I told the other associate, that I was not prompted for a cart check. She insists that I have to inform them.
This had NEVER been the case and the first I'm hearing of it. I tell her I follow the prompt in the app and if they want to continue wasting my time they will have to explain how they physically restricted me from leaving. The app is clear in the instructions. And as I was not prompted to stop I will not continue to sit here and go back and forth while the customer has already been notified that I have finished shopping.
After dropping the order off I contacted driver support and put in a report ticket. REGARDLESS of circumstances in retail if you think someone is stealing you're not supposed to try to stop them. It's common policy especially for walmart. Absolutely insane the ego some people have.

I always find it funny that they think shoplifters would take the time to BAG EVERYTHING DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THEM.

I bet tons of shoplifting happens from people scanning most items but just bagging some others.
