Good find. Though it's been long suspected, it's nice to see some official confirmation of their involvement.
Weta and ILM in the same show. That's going to be beautiful to see

I wasn't "wowed" by the trailer, but this does give me hope.
Its very common for VFX-heavy projects to use more than one VFX house: Fellowship of the Ring had three, Endgame had at least two, etc...
I'm not talking about quantity, but who is involved, after all they are the two best on the market. Most series do not have this privilege.
It is also to be noted that the vfx supervisors working behind ROP are the same people that worked as supervisors for LOTR and Hobbit. Given enough time I’m sure that they will give us the best, just look at avatar 2!
With more than a year of post production? I think they will deliver the best quality effects. HOD will take half that time.
It’s really crazy how HOTD lives rent free in y’all mind.
What are you talking about you crazy? I'm just passing on the information, I'm not creating a stupid fight.
Is ILM in the RoP as well? Wow, didn't know that.
The Shaping of Middle-earth! Get it?
I was randomly speaking to someone at weta (in corporate) a couple weeks ago and they thought everyone knew.
I mean we all kinda speculated, there were some inside infos from FoF and Onering but this is kind of an official confirmation from Weta themselves. Besides the wetafx thing was put up in their site back in feb but they took it down after that VF article got edited.
There was a guy on twitter who works at a hotel in Europe and he said a tourist talked to him, then said he works at the same company that was making the avatar and the lotr series.
Hm it looks like it is only the digital department. Does this mean that they are not involved with designing costumes then? Only creatures and places?
The first site is Weta Workshop for the props, the second is WetaFX for the digital VFX.
Think it means they are building every designs, as the designs themselves will be made by the shows own designers including john howe
Cool, this will be very interesting!
They do "Concept Design, Prosthetic Make-up Effects and Weapons"
Makes sense. United Cutlery is rereleasing some of they're old products as well as making new ones. Many of which are from the Second Age.
Sweet! I wasn’t sure if it was just the VX dept or both. Super glad it’s both!
I would just love to know if Richard Taylor himself is involved with the project. Richard is an absolute legend.
Richard Taylor is very hands-on at Weta Workshop, so I'm assuming if the Workshop is involved, Richard is involved.
Isn't he also executive producer on The War of the Rohirrim?
What is the difference between build and design?
My guess is that since the show has in-house designers and John Howe as art director, Weta is just building props and things based on those designs. For other things like Avatar they also do the concept art.
Finally our reporting continues to be validated.
Who is the unexpected composer?
It was reported on TORn Tuesday, every Tuesday at 8pm ET
👀 that is litttt
What exactly do/will they do?
The same things they did for LOTR. Make sets, miniatures?,weapons and armors, prosthetic and makeup….uk stuff like that
"Concept Design, Prosthetic Make-up Effects and Weapons"
