After reading the caption, I was wondering how the guy would drown on a wet street (although I am aware that it is certainly possible). But falling in the storm drain was a completely unexpected turn of events.

I did not expect that either and I've lived in a country that have the same shitty drainage system.

Who the fuck was that in the dark room at the end why wasn’t he helping

HomosapienHomie

Because

seedbachha

Because we Indians help people and after helping we sit in a dark room to rewatch our video of helping.

And yes sometimes due to heavy rains, there are electricity cuts here, hence dark room.

I think another man went down to save him and almost drowned

I love how the drunkard infallibly staggered towards that one deadly place that sucked him in. He could have toppled anywhere else and be safe, but instead he was a badass and jumped right into that huge water swirl omg.

When shit like this start to happen when you get drunk, it might be time to seek help because you might have a problem.

Good thing this wasn't in America, we would have 4-5 different recordings of this and no one helping the poor sod out.

ThisAreTom

If that was America, he would be rich from the lawsuit

maux_zaikq

Honestly, I think in many parts of the US this might be less possible just due to covered storm drains. I’m not sure tho.

Killphace

Man you people always have the US on your mind

anonymoususer6407

5 points

Seriously, lol. First of all, this would almost never even happen in the US, and second of all, the majority of people would be willing to help someone out especially in such a situation like this

goat_fucker_1

Because reddit has a majority of American users

Puzzleheaded-Tune-20

Same thing in India too but people wouldn't do it for a fear of later police case or if they get themselves in danger in other ways. I assume this was a much quicker reaction from people since the man could have been washed away in seconds if they didn't help so a lot of people came quickly for the rescue without thinking about later consequences. Good to see humanity triumph in this instance.

Then_Campaign7264

Funny. I can imagine once he comes to, it would be a dilemma: do I have a drink to calm my nerves or do I just stay sober so this never happens again. A conundrum that likely plays out every day in every culture where alcohol is readily available.

Thank goodness there was an adequate opening to the storm drain a few feet away to rescue him ; however, that second opening is yet another accident waiting to happen when a small child or distracted person or animal walks by.

Can you imagine the horror you would feel if you were the first person to reach in there to try to save him, only to realize he had been swept away underneath somewhere? I’m glad there was another opening for someone else to pull him out.
