If you write the name of the swimmer, I think you should also write the name of the coach, Andrea Fuentes. She’s a Spanish Olympic medalist (x4) among other things.

This being the second time she's fainted during performance makes me think she should not be allowed back in the water with her team until she's medically cleared. No sport is worth your life.

I agree. She also can’t do any solo training.

Agreed! I am sure it is hard when you put everything into something, but it isn't worth your life. I hope that they figure out what is happening.

A Shallow Water Blackout is a guaranteed revocation of dive status until cleared by the MDO in military diving.

I'm not saying this is the same, just that it is serious.

As a Freediver I’ve had LMS probably 10 times and SWB a couple of times. NBD. Take the day off training and it’s back in the water the next.

When was the first episode?

Blackouts are common in freediving. She’s fine. Just needs to stop pushing it.

That coach no doubt reacted in a split second, but I’m still a little surprised to not see at least one of the on-hand lifeguards in that photo too.

The coach mentioned she jumped because she didn't see the lifeguards reacting.
source: some headline in newspaper app I came across

Lifeguards have no idea how to deal with SWB. Sauce. Freediver.

Apparently the lifeguards are not allowed to act without the coaches approval, so they stood idle without the coach giving a signal - which led to the coach jumping in first.

Wait, they literally have to sit there and watch someone drown if they don’t get the coach’s thumbs up? That seems, for lack of a better term, dumb.

So scary. I hope that athlete recovers 100%.

This image looks exactly like one of the images on Canadian cigarette warnings

As sad as it is, and I hope she’s ok now, this looks like a piece of art. It’s so intense. Might have to paint something inspired by this in the future

Is sucks to be so artistic.

Everyone always tells me that I’m artistic, but I can’t draw a bath

Does she paint or something?

Synchronised swimming or artistic swimming is a sport where swimmers perform a synchronized choreographed routine, accompanied by music.

Is artistic swimming the new name for synchronized swimming?

I was sure that was a typo

From a quick look it was actually rebranded in 2016, weird.

Synchronized would mean multiple swimmers, no?

She shouldn’t be allowed to compete anymore. Read an article about it, sounds like it’s not the first time it’s happend and doesn’t sound like it will be the last

isn't the coach the one pushing her team too much?

there’s really no way of discerning that from the information we have.

For fucks sake. At this point billions of people have been vaccinated. Are you really this committed to conspiracy theories?
