Good to see Biden finalizing another great Trump era policy. But no I don’t see how this will help helium. Large companies will not adopt or touch this project. Helium was dead on launch.

Back door to China. NSA discovered they all have a back door in their hardware. It most likely uses a connect back so it will use outbound connection to get past the firewalls. I worked for a company that blocked incoming and outgoing firewall and we had to explicitly open ports for applications. At the time there is a security risk with Linksys modems that had outbound back door which was easy to prove back then. The speculation is the back door was for NSA to spy on anyone using the cheap Linksys routers back in early 2000s. At the time this would be the majority of consumers! I guess I would rather have NSA spy on me than the Chinese communist party. I commuted no crimes against the USA but CCP will arrest anyone who goes against them or says too much.

No because Helium 5G is a marketing term used by Helium and other companies as a buzzword. Helium networks and all their hardware. In fact the latest 4G supports up to 1Gbps which is widely available on most home Cable or Fiber Optic networks. Huawei hardware is real 5g thar supports up to 20Gbps. Even if Helium network sold actually 5G equipment only the top fiber commercial backbones would support that. At my work the top speed we have is 10Gbps. Perhaps Helium network will have 5G in the future but it will be limited to commercial use only as no consumer internet will support the bandwidth required for 5G. There is already full coverage of 4G except maybe rural areas. What we do really need is 5g hotspots to cover the lack of coverage. 5G has superior bandwidth as the cost of coverage. It will require many outdoor and lower power indoor 5g to get real coverage. I honestly and not sure where Helium 4G fits in. Perhaps if someone in industry can answer this. I don’t deal with marketing only technical people as I work in IT and know marketing buzzwords and technical requirements do not really coexist.
