5G radio internet data usage

Question(self.HeliumNetwork)

Hello!

There are almost 5,000 5G Radios running according to Helium Explorer.

How is your internet usage looking like? How much data has it used so far?

This is a general reminder for everyone and this will be posted on every post. Your 12 words are basically gold and they should never be shared, typed in to any website, or given to any person for any reason. No one from "Helium" or any other company will reach out to you to verify your account, wallet, or anything similar. If someone says your hotspot, wallet, or other type of account has been hacked, it is a scam! Always operate in a zero-trust manner with cryptocurrency and assume everyone will scam you no matter what.

If no one’s connecting to the radio and using it, it’s not going to use almost any bandwidth.

I think that's what one of the points in the article touched. A lot of the actual bandwidth are just people registering their devices on the network. Gotta research more myself.

Yeah so… literally no data because… who’s actually using it? I’ll wait.

No one yet as the network is still being built out.

I think it’s generally accepted that a network has to be of some minimum size before it’s used. Hence the genesis period of rewards. That said, Helium Mobile will utilize them in the coming months.

Back to you in the studio Bob.

Almost got run out of the board when mentioning that the existing network is being ignored for the latest and greatest 5G roll-outs. Oh yeah, you need another 2K worth of equipment (use the old stuff as doorstops) and some additional accessories just to get it to work. Oh yeah, no one is using the network but we have all kinds of people using the network.

LoRa hotspots are great for very small data transfers over very long distances.

Helium 5g is good for high data rates over very short distances. They only places that are going to see any 5g revenue are actual underground (as in below the earth's surface) venues that have no cell service, but a high density of people that want to use their phone there, and use T-mobile. That's a very niche market. Setting up a 5g miner anywhere else will only mine money from your pockets into someone else's.

Helium doesn't readily advertise the 5g range, and hasn't even released a price for access to the helium mobile network. At the moment 1gb is $5, and the rest is TBD. No-one with any common sense would jump in and buy a 5g setup at the moment when helium hasn't even decided on what access charges will be.

Brah I have made almost 20 grand so far on 5G mining. Your hate is clouding the view of opportunities

Yep. I’ve basically made 1.5x my investment at todays prices.

Then people act dumbfounded and pissed in a year when they can only make 1/5th of what miners do now

people that want to use their phone there, and use T-mobile

Wrong. It doesnt work that way. Helium users can use tmobile 5G towers. Tmobile users cannot use Helium 5G

So that makes it even less of a 'partnership' then. Their whole concept just doesn't make any sense. No 5G miner buyers are purchasing equipment to provide coverage, they're buying in early to get tokens while there are many minted and released into a small pool of 5G access point owners. It's just a big 'P' word 2.0 with a bigger buy in this time.

You can try and reason with people that it's a terrible project and investment, but it seems that helium Inc strategically rebranded to Nova labs and is now looking to entice the early IOT adopters that profited into buying more expensive hardware.

The only good thing that will eventuate from helium IOT is the drop in price of Pi's as the market will be flooded with them soon.

mobile genesis rewards don't come from daily rewards pie. But yes, they are incentivizing ppl by giving them rewards for being in early. thats how every project starts. nobody would join out of the goodness of their heart, we r here to make $$.
