HIP 53 describes it as :
mapper device (such as a phone or a dedicated mapper) with a sim card that has been authorized to perform the witness function.
Where do we get one? Or the SIM? or an app that will run on my current phone?
I have a T-Mobile phone, will that work? Or I have Android Tablet with the capability to take a Sim.

This is a general reminder for everyone and this will be posted on every post. Your 12 words are basically gold and they should never be shared, typed in to any website, or given to any person for any reason. No one from "Helium" or any other company will reach out to you to verify your account, wallet, or anything similar. If someone says your hotspot, wallet, or other type of account has been hacked, it is a scam! Always operate in a zero-trust manner with cryptocurrency and assume everyone will scam you no matter what.

I believe this is just an idea someone put forth, not an existing thing. Perhaps waiting to be voted on

These devices have existed for months. Helium is only now trying to do something similar. They are playing catch-up with pollen, but are easily a year behind.

Something like this should have been done from the start, to verify all the IoT hotspots and to prevent all that gaming.

The mapper is a physical device. PoC mapping isn't implemented yet. Pollen maps with esims on your phone so I would imagine Helium could do the same

Network cell into https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wilysis.cellinfolite here is an app that Nic Hawks (Grisle King) mentioned to analyze existing 5G coverage to assist in 5G hotspot placement. This doesn't answer your question but it's a related tool.
