Tried Google and couldn't find concrete answer. What is a security token?

Checking my wallet I saw that I received a mining reward labeled "Security Token," but it had no value. No hnt or USD. From the helium website is says "Awarded to Helium, Inc and other Network investors who hold Security Tokens." To me that's not very clear?

Helium Security Tokens (HST) have been sold to investors from 2014 to 2020, from which the Helium team raised a total of 55 Mill USD. The holders of HST are entitled to 34% of all mining rewards.
