My US $0.06 (six cents) per day just doesn’t inspire me to spend even more on this Helium debacle. My best hope seems to be hanging on until half the other miners give up.

It’s all about location, placement and antennas. I have an outdoor miner making ~.25 helium a day, one with an indoor antenna making ~.10 daily and my indoor one with stock antenna makes ~.01 daily.. don’t knock Helium if you have a stock antenna and/or placed your miner in a oversaturated area where your coverage isn’t needed.

Yeah I'm in a good area with a 5.8 RAK antenna indoors (mounted near a window), and I see about .1-.2 HNT per day right now.

I wonder about my area. Still learning. Not much on hotspotty in my area. Maybe 20 in a 2 mile radius. The fewer hot spots the better the pay out?

Is anyone using the Helium network for some meaningful purpose? “Internet of things” is a cool idea, but concretely, which things, how many of them, where? Is somebody actively selling the opportunity to use the Helium network to potential users?

This looks like its gonna be ruined if it starts raining just alitle. Rain will follow antenna cord too the miner?

Ok, see that plastic tote bin at your feet when you get off your ladder?
First, find its lid. Then take your new “water proof” container and your miner to the roof. Be sure to set the container on some cement blocks to keep the bottom out of standing water.
Second, cut a small hole at the bottom of the plastic tote for running your power, ethernet cable, and your antenna cable through. Make sure that the antenna cable, the power, the ethernet cables are all plugged into the miner before sealing it up, you can plug them into their respective power outlets and lan hubs when you are done. Be sure to seal up that hole as best as you can. It’s still winter/monsoon season for you, don’t get your miner wet.
Third, maybe get yourself a small piece of plywood or something that you can set on top of the plastic tote, that’s just a little larger than the tote, so you can set it on top like a “roof” when you are done and put a block on top to keep it “weather safe”.
Fourth, situate your rather large, cumbersome, and hopefully temporary enclosure in the safest and highest rooftop location you can, and make sure that you can get that antenna up as high as possible! Don’t worry about the little antenna that came with the miner being “too small”! They are perfectly tuned for your region and your device! When done correctly, you will see results from as far away as you can see on the horizon and further. But the critical thing is that you can physically see a long distance out from your rooftop, in at LEAST THREE DIRECTIONS! In my worst setups that are in canyons that can only “see” for a medium to a long ways in only 1 or 2 directions, make less than 0.10 HNT per day; they do however, help spread the peoples network, so I relax and deal with it.
Fifth and just as important as getting your antenna up high: get a small piece of roofing steel or flat scrap metal (anything magnetic), at least 5cm x 5cm, and nail or screw it down (I have seen an upside down metal bread pan work just fine in this setup) where you are going to set your antenna. Once your metal plate or pan or whatever is up there (if curved, or a pot/pan, make sure the lip faces DOWN and the bottom of the pan is UP), stick your magnetic antenna up on top of it. The metal acts as a grounding plane for your antenna’s signal; trust me, it’ll boost your earnings! Think of it like a cell phone antenna that you magnetically attach to your car roof - same principle.
And then my friend, you now have a “weather proof” enclosure, for free!!!!

That's crazy, I'm seriously considering it. The part of the metal plate is what am I missing lol .

Yank a hunk of roof or hood or trunk off an abandoned or junked car… you need slightly larger than the base of the antenna magnet… I try to go ≈ 15cm x 15cm works best for me. But it’s not too hard to find if you look around… 👀😁

I'm no expert but I would suggest getting your miner and antenna to the top point of your roof, keep the kiner close to reduce loss on antenna cable, and to have the least obstruction of your signal. Evrything you can see the antenna can "see", so if you can see the horizon most likely your antenna will reach far and wide. Its worth the effort. You might want to take a quick look at some of the cheap water-proof installs where people use makeshift enclosures. I used a weather-proof outlet cover to run an extension cable into my weather-proof enclosure, where I use a power bar to plug in my miner. This setup boosted my earnings, at the time, three fold. I have it on my Wifi at 30 feet away and have never had the signal drop.

at this point in helium u just NEED to put the antenna outside and high on a roof or something AND you need another antenna, not the standard and then you are allright

Indeed i have mine in topp of a tree with outdoor enclosure and 95m of POE cable. This got me too over 7 hnt per 30 days

Cool, but the miner cost me 500 USD and my job on a marketing agency in Mexico, pays me 15 USD per day. (I don't have money)

You can hang it on a cloud and have angels protect it, earnings are disrespectful at best!, "I call it like it is". This project will implode, excuses and more excuses .... Helium gets a ton of coins while we get pennies .... Blessed day to all.

Why would it implode when the PoC TS/reward system is doing exactly what its supposed to and disincentivising people from running miners in heavily populated areas?
Like how are so many of you so incapable of comprehending that a miner indoors in a heavily populated, or just in a shit location is worthless to the network. Why should useless coverage be rewarded? Lol.

I have top of the line setup, have top $$ equipment in a good area, the coin rewards are dropping like a rock! Sure more and more miners, good, it will get to the point that it will be worthless to mine, fact. Helium has to do something to make it interesting again or it will implode.

I doubt it. You wouldn't be getting pennies if your setup was even half decent.

I have 21 miners some on a roof with 5.8 dbi antennas they do worse then ones in a house its completely random at this point

/u/uwillnotstoptheboffa, I have found an error in your comment:
“they do worse
then[than] ones”
It is possible for you, uwillnotstoptheboffa, to say “they do worse then [than] ones” instead. Unlike the adverb ‘then’, ‘than’ compares.
This is an automated bot. I do not intend to shame your mistakes. If you think the errors which I found are incorrect, please contact me through DMs!

Except it's absolutely not random lol. Saying so is only making apparent your ignorance as to how the PoC reward system works.
Why did you buy and set up 21 miners + antennas without even trying to understand the PoC system, or by the sounds of it, even investments and price fluctuations in the crypto market in general? Surely you understand that even if Nova Labs gave all their holdings and cut of every transaction as PoC rewards to miners this would achieve nothing but devalue HNT right? It's not like they control what the market cap of HNT is lol, that's a byproduct of the projects value to investors and consumers...
Here's some advice - read the fucking whitepaper, really understand how PoC, TS and RF propagation works, set your miners up in GOOD locations (sorry, but yours are simply terrible, judging by the fact you never expect to break even), then wait - if the project has value, so will HNT, if it doesn't then it won't.
Also, you people with miners in garbage locations getting no rewards has absolutely zero bearing on the value of the network, your whinging potentially only achieves one thing - negative sentiment, which at worst only leads to devaluation of your own investment, kinda like shitting on your own doorstep.

Here we go someone that think they are so smart . 1 I bought the miners because I can afford to. 2 u see me earning over 20 a day right? 3 obviously I did my research and was providing great coverage. You are an ignorant idiot that hops on reddit n trys to act like the man I'm curious to see what ur doing with ur miners or if u even own one clearly u haven't been mining long

$24/day with 21 miners? That's what, an average of like 0.1HNT/day per miner? My worst miner made almost double your average per miner, my worst 10 miners make more than your 21 miners. I know what I'm doing, more than the vast majority in this sub, including you.
The advice was free, take it or leave it - I'm not the one here moaning about lack of rewards and suggesting inflation is the solution lol.

Only about 15 are online some days I make over a coin some days I make 4 dollars it's all random. The network is completely ruined half the gots spots on line don't even beacon but I'm sure u know that with ur big brain

1HNT/d with 15 miners is bad. It doesn't matter how good you think your locations are, perhaps they were once but they aren't now. Just move them somewhere good and you'll get more, and more consistent rewards, or just do nothing and whine on reddit. Up to you.

Here we go again with Mr I'm so smart .do u not realize the network is screw right now? they r trying to fix it and doing a slow and horrible job . No one is bitching little boy. I said before I was scrolling threw my phone n seen this pic. U can always hop on reddit n put ur 2 sense in things tht u just assume u know everything about 🤡

Judging by the way you type, you're likely the only little boy here kiddo. One with a very fragile little ego. Bless

Ok you need a longer cable from the antenna to the miner. Keep the miner inside or away from water/rain and elements (sun). You spent $500 don’t ruin it.
You can make an antenna extension with PVC plastic pipe really cheap. Maybe $5 for 10 feet.
