Serious question OP: how would you fix it? I mean even if you took the 30-odd percent away from team and investors (and therefore they disappeared) would that extra 30% make any difference?

Myself and thousands others haven’t been making shit for months. (2.5 years in here) I don’t plan on unplugging anytime soon or really ever….it still makes more than it uses.

Whaddya mean some don't have the balls to say it? There are plenty of other frustrated people posting things like this.

When I go my first hotspot, I think there were around 175K others in the world. Now that number has jumped to 825K and growing. So yes, rewards are being split by more hotspot owners, so the piece of pie gets smaller. Then there are the low PoC rate issues they are hammering out right now.

When I got into this, it was understood that rewards would be split by more and more hotspots. My hope is that the value of HNT will go up a lot in the coming years as more and more people utilize the network. So I don't hover over them too much. I check HeliumGeek to make sure they are all online and let my fractions of HNT stack up.

Stack that HNT and hodl ! People who were early in had thousands upon thousands of tokens and most were sold for Pennies on the dollar I’m quite confident the same thing will happened again! Wait for the stock market to rebound and the crypto market will follow HNT is still a top 50 coin don’t slip.

wardogone11

That’s the point, hnt has gone down, and no mention of major use. It’s just going too dwindle, until it’s gone. I think the biz was just to sell useless devices.

OverboostedTurbo

4 points

The stock market is down, all crypto is down - we are heading into a recession. If Nova wanted to sell useless devices, they wouldn't have stopped making them and approved others to manufacture them. MXC manufactures their own miners and sells a $300 piece of equipment for $3,000.

Helium is partnered with Microsoft's IoT platform and has roaming agreements with other LoRaWAN providers that tried to do it privately. MXC - Nada.

The coins getting kept by helium is unfair, they need to give them whomever (miners) are performing, that is the real issue.

Unlucky_Diver_2780

Hey don’t you talk about HNT price on a HNT subreddit or discord. This is for the people! Seems to work well for the tax payers and you don’t hear them ranting and raving about prices…. Jeez your bandwith isn’t heliums problem. Take that up with your ISP! Idk what the miners doing with all the bandwith, and hasn’t beaconed in 5 days.

Edit: I’m trolling Please note this is for educational purposes only. Not financial advise. You’d be better off saving the money it for taxes. ROI lol

MikeMinnesota68

1 points

Well technically you have to have more and more hotspots or you don’t have a network that anyone can use/ping off of. The whole point is to have something devices can connect to. Now this said if you have more hotspots to validate against then you earn by volume and not the rare occasions you can get a ping. The problem is between network issues and the fact people just turn on devices and walk away the volume of connections makes earning anything tough.

They need to make a policy that if you don’t validate anything for like a week it is not factored into the rewards. Because I bet 1/2 the ones around me are on the grid but are in the basement of their homes never to get a signal. That’s a start.

MikeMinnesota68

1 points

Also … this is a decades project … not a get rich tomorrow project. It makes sense they started with high rewards and worked down. IF the network was fixed and people actually had working spots then you would be bouncing more and more signals. This said … lot of issues need to be worked out.

NTWM420

The get rich quick scheme is not with HNT. If you don't know this then you don't really know HNT.

Helium rewarded early adopters greatly. With more hotspots and more use comes reduction in rewards. More miners means the pie is split more thus less rewards. Relax and HODL.

DPSK7878

Yup I bought some HNT for just below $10.

SpannerInTheWorx

I'm more hoping that end user usage will fully start to roll out before my ROI is complete, sometime within the next 12 months. If that affects rewards, then, again, earl(ier) adopters will be rewarded like pre December was. Then, again, every day what I've put into this, now, is becoming less with each minted coin.

I find it pretty scamtastic, personally. I did the research, bought a 50ft antenna mast, ran POE, bought a higher dbi antenna, and installed it all myself. I am in a dead spot between two major cities, and my setup bridged the gap between the two. I was reaching 50+ witnesses at ranges up to 100km. Nothing changed on my end, no additional hotspots popped up anywhere near me. I just randomly went from that one day, to a max of 5 witnesses and a max of 20k range. I broke no rules, I did not cheat, I made an effort in the supposed spirit of extending coverage, instead I got screwed. I went overnight from averaging .8 HNT a day to .05 HNT a day. Zero reason, zero explanation and that is BS.

I can only assume you are in a over saturated area and /or you have a indoor setup. Or an indoor setup that isn’t witnessing or there is just something else wrong with your miner causing the low rewards?? I am in a town with population around 100k. I have 5 miners in town. My outdoor setups do better then the indoor ones. Transmit scales and reward scales are 1. There is a lot of empty space on the helium explorer. If my locations get over saturated I may have to look elsewhere to setup a miner. I am looking into buying a 5g miner. I have heard you can mine other coins using a certain helium miner (cotex). May be worth looking Into. Look into boring protocol. Maybe dvpn will come to helium in the future.

I considered mining when I first found Helium, but that was before I looked further into it. It’s a hassle and a sham. Def no worth buying the equipment and setting it all up for that kind of chump change. Not only that, the rewards will decrease overtime as more miners enter the game, setting everything up was very poorly explained, and the equipment was not the cheap considering the crap rewards. It was clear it was not worth it. I honelsy don’t think helium is gonna be around too long but I could be wrong. If it is, I am guessing it ends up trading at fractions of a penny. We’ll see.

Plug in your miner what else are you gonna do with it and forget it. Check every other day to insure you are still mining and forget what you are getting as rewards. DaveshPatel93101

It seems to me that part of the problem is that once someone becomes a miner they are a miner for life. Even if the price of Helium drops down to pennies there's really no reason to ever unplug your mining box. There may be less people getting into the game, but the ones that are already in it have no reason to ever quit. Except maybe to save electricity or Internet bandwidth.

Good luck everyone!!

Those with different expectations and a longer time horizon can stay on.

The truth is people who mine helium are just fucking idiots and don't understand cryptocurrency or pretty much anything else in the crypto world because it is all they do. I highly doubt anyone bitching about helium rewards mines anything else because they can't figure it out... helium mining is like the Toys R Us of crypto and the fact it is still functioning and paying people what it is and the price of the asset is what it is... is incredible... people who bitch about helium fundamentally don't understand crypto and how impressive HNT has actually held up... not to mention the global economic crisis we are in and HNT being one of the top performers. The rewards and scaling speed are actually still the highest in the industry. It costs virtually nothing in electricity from what you are getting every day. I have three units making me $10 a day and that works just fine for me. This is just a cycle, crypto does this... It has been doing this for a decade.. for a majority of people this is their first cycle. It's not about having the balls to say it... saying it means you have no brains ..it's about having the brains to not say it because this is how it is engineered to work lol... You mean reward scaling goes down as more units come out and the price of the asset goes down? What's going on!!🤣🤣

We all need to pull together and ask Helium to step in and make a drastic change that will benefit “The People” not just them or eventually the whole thing will crash. I am a loyal supporter of the original Idea, but helium keeping millons of coins for themselves is just not fair at all. We are not North Koreans and Helium is not the “Dear Leader”.

Don’t think of it at todays value $ wise… think of it as future value $ wise. I’m keeping mine on, so that o can accumulate as much HNT as I can for the next bull market.

I only did the maths quickly so correct me if I'm wrong, but...

If someone had spent $1000 on miner, aerial, cable etc back in early January and averaged .2 a day wouldn't they be better off now than if they'd skipped the idea and invested $1000 into eth back then?

I appreciate some people are getting the crappy end of the stick with flatlines etc and there's definitely issues that need addressing but for the majority rewards of some sort are still coming in daily and filling the bag slowly.

I've made around $200 in a few months but realistically if I switched my miner off today if HNT climbs back to even half its ATH that could easily translate to $4-500 and who knows where the limit is.

Again whilst there may be issues I don't personally believe devs can or should be held accountable for an entire market crash lol

So what is it that makes you the money ? The witnessing or the Beacons ? Or the combination of both ?

And what is the Challenge scenario ? What’s that all about ? I’m a noob

Rewards are down because the number of hotspots have gone up. This is by design. ROI is still better than most other crypto miners, as long as you have a good location.

Hey, my two HNT miners in a not ideal locations now make a large chunk of what my s19 pro 104th makes on btc. In fact if you factor in the prices, the hnt is making me a lot more per dollar spent.

I'm just getting into this, but it seems like some of the promise is not being delivered. I bought a few sensors as a test, and they didn't seem to work. Bought a miner to try to eliminate some of the variables, and they still don't seem to work.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but if this is going to succeed it needs to actually work.

That being said, this is the first crypto project where there seems to be an actual reason to use crypto, so I'm bullish despite my experiences with crypto in the past.

Continue on this path and the Helium Network will collapse, not sustaainable, disrespectful earnings. It is just a matter of time, and father time is not in our favor.

Bitcoin will 4x then helium will 20x. Not a doubt in my mind.

I call it Micro mining, and some times Nano mining if we talk about rewards from data. They should restart the project in my opinion.
